Dear Family & Friends,

You are cordially invited to attend a family gathering and feast in order to meet Father Ronald Veigas, our adopted son/priest from India on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 1h00pm.

Permit me to give you a background on Father Rony.

Twelve years ago , Annette and I attended Mass at St. Mathew’s Church in Plymouth, NH. There, we heard Fr. Albert Veigas give a stirring homily on what the parishioners of a small church in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, needed – financial help for the education of their young people. Karnataka  in southwestern India is one of the poorest areas. Fr. Albert’s words touched our hearts. Both of us, upon leaving the church, looked at each other and said, “Whom shall we help?”.

We decided on a young man who was about to start his seminary training as a diocesan priest – Ronald Veigas. We found out only later that Ronald was the nephew of Fr. Albert.

Since July 1993,  we have supported Rony financially during his seven years of training and as a pastor. In May of 2001, he was ordained a diocesan priest. He invited us to attend his ordination. Instead of going to India, we decided to use the funds to purchase a motorcycle for him so that he could get around to see his parishioners, who were scattered far and wide from his church and rectory.

Fr. Rony is visiting the United States on a Religious Visa during the months of May, June and July 2005. He will be staying with us during the weeks of  June 12 through June 26.

We are very excited at the prospect of meeting him since we have been writing to him since 1993. We never expected to meet Rony. We are inviting you to share this joy with us.

Fr. Rony was assigned to Saint Francis-Xavier church in Kable, Nilskal, Karnataka, India.

He has five orphan children living with him in his rectory.

His parishioners are scattered over a wide area.

If at all possible, we would like to give him a financial gift for his parish and his orphan children who are living with him.  Any donation on your part will be greatly appreciated and rewarded by the prayers of Father Rony and his parishioners.
