Welcome to the home of New Orleans' own Scottish village fiddlers. Community-based fiddle "orchestras" are a defining aspect of Scottish fiddle music. Similar societies are found not only in Scotland but also in Nova Scotia, Australia and throughout the United States. Strathspeys and reels are two of the most distinctive forms of Scottish traditional music performed in ensembles of fiddles and supporting instruments.
Our VisionTraditional Scottish fiddle music is widely performed, appreciated and enjoyed throughout the Greater New Orleans community and our neighbors in the Gulf Coast
Society ProfileSociety members are amateur enthusiasts and performers of Scottish fiddle music to include the dance tunes used to accompany Scottish traditional dancing as well as the airs and marches included in the repertoire of traditional Scottish fiddlers. While we feature the fiddle, we are open to all the supporting instruments normally found in Scottish dance music. We enjoy cordial and mutually supportive relationships with other Scottish and Celtic music and cultural organizations in our area. We regularly perform in the Greater New Orleans area as well as at festivals in the Gulf South States From time to time we conduct workshops and sponsor performances by visiting masters of the Scottish Fiddle for the benefit of members. Many of these events are open to the public. We meet as an instrumental ensemble generally on a weekly basis. Contact our director for specific times and places. We are officially recognized as a 503C [non-profit] organization. Contributions are tax deductible.
