NPPAngband is a variant of Angband. It is an attempt to take the most popular ideas from the many Angband variants, as well as many of the popular patches, and bring them into the "vanilla" Angband environment, and rebalance the game to account for these changes. The end goal is to make variant that has an Angband flavor but incorporates many of the ideas and features made popular by other variants. It is an attempt to answer the hypothetical question: What would Angband look like if it was more aggressive about taking more ideas from the variants? In addition, I am trying to make something more challenging than Angband v3.0.x.
Angband is a freeware computer fantasy role-playing game based (very loosely) on the books of J.R.R.Tolkien, belonging to a group of computer games known as "Roguelikes". The web sites Angband and http://angband.oook.cz can provide the complete explanations and history of Angband, Moria and Roguelike computer games in general, as well as links to most of the best sites about Angband. Due to it's cleanly written, extremely easy to understand and modify source code, Angband has over 40 known variants, ranging from minor tweaks to complete overhauls of every aspect of the game.
