If you think making plates is just for little kids, think again!
We did this just for fun, no great art lesson, perhaps a bit of simplification and color, but we again combined technology with the concept of self portraits. You could also do the same thing and create iron on T-shirt transfers! Or...how about block prints! A great idea for your 8th grade graduates.
Step by Step Procedure:
- Take digital headshots and upload to hard drive
- Open photos in Photoshop Elements
- Make sure the foreground color is black
- Under Filter Menu choose Sketch
- Under Sketch Sub Menu choose Stamp
- Print out photo
- Place print out of photo under a circular sheet from a Makit Plate Kit
- Using the markers from the kit or similar watercolor markers, trace the print out onto the circular sheet in the colors you have chosen
- You cannot use pencils, erasers, or white out, so this needs to be done carefully
- Then you can send the designs to the company and have plates made, or iron on transfers or create block prints!
