Macerator Installation

The macerator kit that I obtained from Denny Allen included almost everything needed for installation of the pump. The black Valterra valve assembly has been modified so that the output "T" is drawing from the low point in the 3" pipe. The pump is mounted to the frame cross-member with a bracket supplied in the kit. Notice the operating rod for the Valterra valve. It goes up above the frame member to "miss" the exhaust pipe.

The output hose from the pump can be seen entering a 1 1/2 inch conductor pipe for the run up past the Onan, where it is connected to a 16-foot length of 3/4" hose.

The "T" handle on the Valterra valve operating rod can be seen just about in the center of this picture. For emergency use only, (if the macerator isn't working) there is easy access just below the propane compartment.

The gray pipe going diagonally to the left carries the output hose from the pump. The blue electrical conduit carries wiring to the pump. The other gray pipe comes down thru the space between the Onan and the house battery, proceeds forward for several feet, then turns toward the passenger side, goes across the width of the coach, then turns rearward again. It is the storage pipe for the 3/4" dump hose.

The rest of the hose storage pipe. Kinda looks like another exhaust, doesn't it?

Wiring is pretty straight forward. Because the battery is tapped directly, by connecting directly to the the solenoid, an in-line fuse is used  to protect the circuit. It is also furnished with the kit.

The 3/4" hose attaches to the output hose from the pump just at the yellow hose clamp seen at the bottom. The hose itself has been sprayed a number of times with silicone spray, so it slides fairly easily through the storage conduit. There are a total of four 90 degree turns that it makes, but it provides a very good storage solution for the dump hose.

Just pull the hose from storage, remove the hose cap, place the "business end" where it belongs, then flip a switch! Maahvelous!
