RACQUET CLUB
MEETING MINUTES
WEDNESDAY,
SEPTEMBER 9, 2009
Meeting was called to order at 4:20 – Approximately 35 people were in attendance.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: One motion was read from previous meeting re pickleball lines.
TREASURER’S REPORT: The pickleball social/tournament on July 18 made $.59. The La Vita Dolce lanai party on August 15 cost the treasury $538.21 . Our current balance in the treasury is $959.60.
FACILITIES REPORT: Light out on paddle court #3 was reported. All courts are due to be resurfaced within a couple of months. Debi Vail will request notices to be posted notifying members of court resurfacing dates.
PRESIDENTS’ MEETING AND REPORT: Debi Vail attended and related news. She thanked Sunny Frowein and Paul Yoshida for their help at the Olympics. The November 20 event was discussed including food courts ideas. Lyn Asaro is in charge of booths for food court. Barbara Hazlett made a motion to make this event a club activity/seconded by Lyn Asaro. Dues Day will be on January 16 and we will need volunteers. There will be a social club “red book” for 2010. We will vote in our new officers in our November meeting, and they will be installed at the holiday party. Dirk was nominated for vice president, and Herb Livsey and Lyn Asaro were nominted at co-presidents. John Ploss and Dannica Wood offered to stay on as treasurer and secretary.
LADIES DAY EVENT: Reported by Judy Gagnon
TENNIS PIZZA SOCIAL: Reported by Joyce Malloy. Scheduled for Sept. 16. We need more players
WATER VOLLEYBALL: Reported by Joyce Malloy. We have been having great turnouts. Labor Day Monday has a great BBQ/25 people turned out. Pool play will continue through November, weather permitting.
OCTOBER 17 TENNIS TOURNAMENT: “Deuces are Wild” tournament was reported by Vinnie Rosa. Flyer is forthcoming.
MONTHLY TENNIS SOCIAL/POTLUCK: Debi Vail reported on George Burgesses idea of having a tennis social monthly with a potluck following. This would be an idea for 2010.
WALK-UP TENNIS: Ray Notholt reported. About 4-6 regulars in this hot weather.
PADDLE TENNIS: Paul Yoshida reported that the next paddle social will be November 17.
PICKLEBALL: Dannica Wood
reported. We have four drop-in
dates/times on the schedule. Has been
very well attended. Rules of “drop-in”
were discussed. Joan Gross has assigned
volunteers to handle pickleball issues during their absence: (1) Orderring paddles/balls–Kathy Moskovitz. (2) Teaching new players–If you need
instruction, phone Paul Yoshida and let him know that you will be at the Sat.

Wichary to be there to teach you. (3)

LADIES TABLE TENNIS:
Reported by Dannica Wood. Still
going well.
EVENT COMMITTEE:
Terrel Campbell reported. They
meet on Wednesdays before the RC meetings.
She wrote a memo to the board, requesting that reps from each sport meet
to coordinate event dates instead of just having tennis players on the Events
Committee.
HOLIDAY PARTY:
Reps from the three clubs will have a planning meeting 9/11/09. We are in charge of entertainment and
intermission entertainment. Debi is
making plans. The A-Team has been
hired.
MEETING FOOD:
Lyn Asaro and Judy Gagnon were thanked for preparing meeting
refreshments.
MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Kate Butler invited us to her performance on 10/23-24.
