RACQUET CLUB MEETING MINUTES – November 12, 2008

 

Meeting was called to order at 4:30 PM – approximately 24 people were in attendance.

OPENING REMARKS by Glen Goglia.  Welcome visitor Dick Lyman, a new resident and future member.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  $1,835.89 in treasury to date.

THANK YOU TO OUR FOOD COMMITTEE and Mike Malloy for a job well done on the meetings.  Lyn Asaro agreed to do the meeting refreshments next year also.  Mike Malloy volunteered to help.

REPAIRS:  One tabletennis table was broken, but Glen supervised it’s repair.

Gate of Court 3 was fixed...Clair Lair repaired it.

REPAIRS NEEDED:  Hole in deck for required for pool volleyball net holder. 

PAUL YOSHIDA:  Paddle social is on Tuesday from 2:00-5:00.

LADEZZZ  DAY:  Jo Wichary is ill...will report next meeting.

WALK-UP TENNIS:  John Ploss will head up walk-up tennis Thursday, 11:00.

WATER VOLLEYBALL:  Joyce Malloy headed up the water volleyball every Monday starting in July...thru November, weather permitting.  Changed time to 2:00 for winter/fall.

HOLIDAY PARTY:  Planning meeting time changed to noon 11/17.  Volunteers needed.  Decorations will be put up for the whole month of December.

PRESIDENTS’ MEETING:  Mike Malloy was at presidents club meeting.  Need volunteers to help set up decorations for the holidays at the clubhouse.

NEW ITEM:  Speedometer for tennis ball speed at the courts.  We could get one for $78.  Motion by Joyce Malloy to purchase/Lyn Asaro seconded.  Motion passed.  It will be put on Glen Goglia’s credit card.

BALL MOWER:  One chosen won’t fit in storage cabinet.  Mike Malloy suggested that we scrap the plan.  We would not use it that much now.  Decided not to purchase it.

ALL VOLUNTEERS WERE THANKED FOR THEIR EFFORTS DURING 2008.

Nominations were requested from  the floor.   None were made.

Lyn Asaro moved to accept the slate of officers.  Motion passed.

EVENTS COMMITTEE:  Dee gave a report from the Events Committee saying they thought we had an excellent year of events.  They will take turns having their meetings at different houses in 2009.  We need someone to coordinate the committee…no volunteers to head it as of yet.  Events committee should let people who volunteer decide the parameters of the events.    The most well-attended event was the Superbowl Tournament:  48 players, 60 came for lunch per Roberta Ostro.  The events committee will meet at a date to be determined.  Will send out an email. 

25-YEAR CELEBRATION:  Debi has been asked to do a triathilon for the 25 year celebration.

PICKLEBALL:  Play  is still on Thursdays at one HOA court.  Glen explained the problem on getting more pickleball court lines.

DUES DAY:  Jan. 11 is dues day.  Volunteers are:  Mike/Joyce Malloy, John and Dee Ploss, Muriel Weiner, and Ginny O’Hara,.   Attendance at Dues Day is heavy in the beginning and thins out later in the day.  Our dues were $10.00 for 2008.  Motion for $10.00 in 2009 passed.

EXPENDITURE ON REFRESHMENTS AT MEETINGS:  Roberta Ostro made a motion to let Lyn Asaro spend up to $50 per meeting.  Motion passed.

TOKENS OF APPRECIATION were presented to past officers.
