"SUB" ETIQUETTE

Have you ever been called to sub in a tennis or paddle game, prepared to play (i.e., sunscreen, knee or elbow supports, stretching, etc.), only to arrive and find that the game has been cancelled or other players are not present for some unknown reason?

We would like to take this opportunity to suggest the following etiquette for obtaining a sub or participating as a sub.

1. Confirm with your sub the date, time, and location of the game, and ask them to note the game on their calendar including the other players' names.

2. Advise all of the regular or other players of who you obtained as a sub.

3. If the game is cancelled or any change is made in the game time or location, ALL players including the sub need to be notified.

4. As a sub, be on time or early so that other players don't have to wonder if you "remembered" that you were subbing.

Some members don't have regular weekly games – instead, only sub for other players so that they may attend other commitments that arise.  So when they commit to sub for you, they may be  very much looking forward to playing in that game.  All players should be considerate, responsible, and respectful of the fact that everyone's time is valuable.
