What can I do?

The question one asks themselves after learning about the current problems and what we are about and hope to accomplish is how they can help. Even when they find themselves in agreement you don't know how to help.

There are ways. Even if they have never been involved in political movements, you can still become involved. Prior experience in establishing public policy at the level required is not necessary. Ask anyone who has been involved in public policy campaigns, they will tell you that you too, can get involved. It can be quite rewarding. It can be quite a lot of fun as well.

To get started, register as a volunteer with I.R.O.N. Much is to be done. We can work with your schedule and find ways that you can really assist in this cause.

Many of the things that need to be done of course are statutory, requiring changes in the laws of our state and perhaps even more of our nation. Much of the problem involves governmental policies that can only be changed at the federal level. To these ends joining in the work of organizations like FAIR and Numbers USA, and other organizations on our links pages are an important part of the process. These organizations keep constant track of legislation being passed in Congress and decisions being made by federal governmental agencies that affects us, and provide many venues to assist them in their efforts to change attitudes in Washington.

Change however need not and indeed cannot be left to the discretion and whims of Washington alone. There are many things that we can and need to do in our own communities. Such can not only make substantially improvements in our own communities, but are a reminder to our representatives in Washington that it is an issue we care deeply about, and are willing to work actively on.

1. Community leaders must be educated on the issues.  Call/visit mayors, city councils, county commissioners to give them the statistics.

2.  Encourage employers/churches not to hire illegal aliens since it is against the law and is morally wrong.

3.  Encourage private business employers to check the validity of social security numbers and their employees ID information with the Federal Pilot Program of Social Security website

4.  Express your disapproval of people who hire illegals and state/federal employees who allow contractors to complete their awarded contracts with illegal alien workers. Call 1-866-DHS-2ICE to get aggressive action, and follow up with your complaint.

5.  Demand that local law enforcement officials uphold immigration laws for all - that does not mean letting them go when they are detained.

6.  FILE COMPLAINT OF SUSPECTED ILLEGALS   Write a letter with all the information you know, the residence they stay, vehicle license numbers, descriptions, and names if you have them to:   Office of Investigation
