The song above, "Over the Rainbow" from the moving picture, "The
Wizard of Oz" was selected by those who do those things as the best song
of the twentieth century. It plays in the background here for that reason.
Also included here are many other beautiful songs which were written or
sung primarily in the first half of the twentieth century because the last
half of the century was taken with popular (non-country) songs which ordinary
people could neither play, sing, nor recognize away from the group which
did the song and sold it as a recording. Oh, there were a few, and most
of them are here; in fact, some of the better country songs will be found
here also. I have selected a "triplet" of groups of songs as the "best
of Sned" since all of the songs here were notated for midi and for Noteworthy
players by sksnedegar, the author and webmaster of this page using the
Noteworthy Composer software from Noteworthy Software, Inc. found at http://www.noteworthysoftware.com.
I believe there are 11 songs in each group in the below "best of" triplet, sort of a football team which comprises an offense, a defense, and special team groupings, but the real reason for there being three groups is that I tried to make a best ten and simply couldn't reject any of the 33 songs from my best ten list. You may not think any of them worthy of your own best ten list, but after all it isn't your page, is it? There is much more to be said about Noteworthy, about its free player, about its free plugin for Netscape, about its (not free but about $40) Composer which allows the user to write his own songs his own way or notate music for the songs of other composers, and that will be said on a separate page here which will contain links to the Noteworthy pages which apply to the various applications. But onward now with the music. I am not sure how IEx will treat this page and these songs, but I am sure at least that Netscape will play them for you as midi files if you choose not to attempt the other possibilities with plugins or by using the free player from Noteworthy. If all else fails, you can download the midi files and play them with Media Player or some other application you choose. To play them in Netscape you have only to click on the clef icon to the left of the song title, and if your browser is configured to play midi files it will play these.

So now, having done the top ten which grew to 33, we can get on below with the rest of the songs. There are no categories, no groups, just an alphabetical list of midi songs. Click the song title to play the song with Netscape; or do whatever you do with IEx to make it work for you. Following the list of songs just below will be some seasonal songs which will then be followed by some songs you won't recognize because I wrote them myself in a fit of sheer hubris.

Hope you have enjoyed some of the above songs. These following will be religious in nature, Christmas songs, Easter carols, hymns, and generally music from religious works of one kind or another, noting that above you saw Ave Maria and the Battle Hymn of the Republic which will be repeated here below. Actually some of the songs are just winter songs which suggest holidays.
I did warn you that I'd be listing some stuff I had the temerity to write myself, and I wasn't kidding about it one little bit. The good news is that there aren't too many of them, and they don't last too long when being played, so without further ado, here are the songs, one of which has lyrics done by L.W. Harding, and the rest of which were all my own creation. Harding did lyrics to "Your Words of Love."
Grand Spring Day . . . It Was You . . . Mockingbird . . . On Loving . . . Roanoke . . . Soigeppra . . . Trying to Get Over Something . . . Twenty-four Steps from the Ocean . . . Your Words of Love . . .
