In
the beginning God created the heavens and
the earth…and ever since then man has
been figuring out ways to monkey with it!!
Electroplating
is one of the ways we can monkey with the
elements, have fun safely, and enjoy the
end results of what we are playing
with!
The
following pages are written by a
novice/layman for those desiring to start
working with a small hobby plating set up.
If you are looking for technical terms and
what not, well, they won’t be here. I
do suggest that you read up on the
technical aspects from the listed books as
it will help you immensely to understand
what you are doing, or not doing when
things go wrong.
I
have done my best to write these pages so
all can understand. I don’t want
others to go through the same amount of
frustration that I encountered when I
started plating. If you find problems or
conflicts, please E-mail me about
them.
If
you feel that the Electroplating
industries toes have been stepped on with
my easy, fun to do approach, well they
have big shoulders they can handle it! I
feel everyone should have a chance to
experience this type of
work at
least once if they desire and not be held
back by trade secrets and pious people. My
own experience is to have people totally
unfamiliar with things try them ,and a lot
of good new techniques will follow in
time.
Through
out the following pages there will be many
safety
notes.
READ THEM! USE THEM! Why do something to
hurt yourself and not be able to enjoy
your hobby anymore or see your
results?
Electroplating
at home can be done safely and responsibly
if you choose to do it that way. Or, you
can set yourself up for an
accident.
I
also touch on environmental
responsibility. If you want to wash and
dump your wastewater into the ground
please put a cup under it so you can drink
it later, because that is what we will all
be doing in the future if you wash your
waste into the soil!
The
cost of making a small-scale setup will
range from about 100 to 1000 dollars. It
depends a lot on your
ingenuity.
The
reason that I created this web site is
basically to give others a good chance at
electroplating successfully. If you have
ever tried to get help in plating (as I
have) you will find a lot of closed doors,
blank stares and muttering...... in this
field. Why? I don’t really know that,
except I guess people think knowledge is
power and that is how they feel their
worth. As for myself....I feel worth
in passing it on and hoping others will
pass it on also.
I
do not claim to be an expert in this
field. I learned all that I know from
reading, doing, and the help of many kind
friends along the way.

not a full scale documentary. The provided

Electroplating and how it works. I am

they have helped me to reaffirm what has
been learned in the quest of
electroplating.
