Fritz Olenberger was born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1949. He became interested in photography in high school,
using Leica cameras his father gave him. He received degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University
of Nebraska and MIT and has pursued a career in defense electronics, but over the past 40 years has continued
to enjoy photography as a hobby. His skills in photography are self-taught. Landscape and scenic photography
are recent interests. His photography has won blue ribbons in the Santa Barbara Fair (including “Best of Show” two consecutive years) and Grand Prize in
the Santa Barbara Zoo Photo Contest. His large prints of Santa Barbara scenes are on display at the
Santa Barbara Airport, and his images have appeared on the covers of Magellan’s Travel Catalog. Fritz is
married with three grown children and lives in Santa Barbara.
