Shopping In Omaha

Hey, it's in our genes!

The Malls

Westroads Mall (link)
This is probably Omaha's largest mall. It's at 102nd & Dodge. BEWARE of the spaghetti road layout to get here. City planners were numb to the idea of efficiency when they came up with this! Westroads features anchor stores Von Maur, Younkers, JC Penney, and Dicks Sporting Goods Store. Plus Abercrombie Fitch, Old Navy, Holister, Gap, and Express. For interesting gifts, The Afternoon Store is most unique.   Dining:  Cheesecake Factory, Granite City Brewery, TGI Fridays, PF Changs, Panera Bread.

Oak View Mall (link)
Built in the early 90's, this mall can be found at 144th & West Center. Anchor stores are Younkers, Dillards, Sears & JC Penney.  Holister, The Buckle, Gap, & Express as well.  Nearby: Kohl's, Barnes & Noble, Toys R Us, Shopko, AMC 24 Theatres, Old Navy

Village Pointe (link)
Opened in May 2004.   Outdoor mall.  Shops, restaurants & entertainment.  168th & West Dodge Road.

Shadow Lake (link)
Opened May2007.   Outdoor mall.  Shops, restaurants & entertainment.   Highway 370 & 72nd Street in Papillion.

Crossroads Mall
This is at one of Omaha's busiest intersections, 72nd & Dodge, yet quite empty.  There are a few worthy stops including anchor stores Target, & Sears. Crossroads Mall also has a Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Across the street, there's a Borders Books & Music Store. Nearby: Best Buy, Toys R Us, Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Regency Court (link)
This is Omaha's upscale mall. It's certainly much smaller than the others. The biggest draw is Borsheim's Jewelry Store. Many say there is no other jewelry store in the country like Borsheim's. The fact that it's a part of Berkshire Hathaway should tell you something! Also:  William Sonoma and Pottery Barn.  Regency is just south of Westroads Mall on Regency Parkway.

Mall of the Bluffs (link)
This mall is across the river from Omaha in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Go east on Interstate 80 to the Madison Ave. exit. Mall of the Bluffs features Dillards, Sears.

Nebraska Furniture Mart ( link )
If you have the time, it's a must-see. Just about everyone in the city has at least one stick of furniture from this huge shopping complex. Not only does it have furniture, but a huge electronics section (in a separate building). There's also Mrs. B's clearance outlet -- for furniture only. This is at 72nd & Jones, less than a mile south of Crossroads Mall.

Old Market ( link )
Downtown Omaha, 11th & Howard area. Very fun place to walk around, especially when it's warm outside. Diverse crowd. Unique one-of-a-kind shopping. Great dining opportunities. The most gay-friendly part of Omaha.

Strip Malls & More

One Pacific Place ( link )
103rd & Pacific (same as Regency Pkwy & Pacific).  A beautifully renovated upscale shopping experience.  A few selections:  Banana Republic, Eddie Bauer, and Ann Taylor. Restaurants too, including California Pizza Connection, Wheatfields, and Ruby Tuesday.

Rockbrook Village ( link )
108th & West Center. A big complex that is making a comeback. You'll do a lot of outside walking to see what's here.

Countryside Village ( link )
87th & Pacific. Similar to Rockbrook Village in layout. Smaller & a little more upscale.

Outlet Mall
Nebraska Crossing. Gretna, Nebraska. Take Interstate 80 & go west toward Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Crossing can be seen from the Interstate at the Highway 31 exit (look for green water tower). Approximately 20 miles west of Downtown Omaha. I've seen better outlet malls.
