Joe Sabado

Joe Sabado has been a member of the UCSB and Goleta community since 1991. Originally from the Philippines, Joe immigrated to the US in 1984 and grew up in Salinas, California.

Joe is currently the manager for the Student Services Information Systems department within the Student Affairs Division providing computing and information systems development/management support for most of the departments in Student Affairs including EOP, Counseling Services, Disabled Students Program, Women's Center, and International Students and Scholars.

Joe's community work the last several years has been focused on the Filipino-American student groups at UCSB as their advisor providing them not only organizational but personal and academic support as well. Through the Optimist club, he hopes to expand his voluntary work to the Goleta and SB community.

Joe is an avid golfer and enjoys this activity very much with his wife Tiffany, who also works at UCSB.

"Optimist Creed"
Promise yourself

To be so strong nothing disturbs your peace of mind
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone you meet
To make all your friends feel like there is something in them
• To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
• To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
• To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
• To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
• To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
