Barbara Bartolome
Barbara relocated to Santa Barbara in 1983 from her hometown of Salem, Oregon and she really feels "blessed" to be here. She is married Victor Bartolomé and together they share five children. She thoroughly enjoys traveling, photography, genealogy, reading, scrap booking and her "really great friends".
Barbara began her "volunteer career" in high school and has always found time to do things to help others, with many organizations benefiting from her talents and her happy, outgoing personality. Besides serving as the Secretary for the Optimist Club at UCSB and focusing on the club's fundraising and membership for 2002-03, she's also actively involved many other community organizations.
Barbara is currently helping the Susan Love MD Breast Cancer Foundation by assisting Barbara Ireland prepare for the Barbara Ireland Walk for the Cure event. She can often be found supporting both Santa Barbara High School and Roosevelt School in many of their school events and PTA fundraisers. On the UCSB campus, she serves as the Photographer for the UCSB Professional Women's Association and will also serve as the PWA Community Outreach Chairperson in 2002-03. She's a veteran of the UCSB United Way Campaign, having helped on the Executive Board for multiple years.
"Optimist Creed" Promise yourself •To be so strong nothing disturbs your peace of mind
•To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone you meet
•To make all your friends feel like there is something in them
• To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
•To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best
•To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
• To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
• To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
• To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
• To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
