Andrew has worked in the Office of the Registrar since 1989. First as a student in the Transcripts unit. Then as a career staff in the Graduation Matters unit as a Degree Analyst for 5 years. Currently he's found a good niche working in the Systems & Development unit as a Computer Resource Specialist. Andrew has always enjoyed volunteering to help others, especially children. As a teen, he volunteered a lot of time to his younger brother's cub scout groups. In high school, worked on the blood drive committee. In his adult life, he has done various volunteer work through Trinity Episcopal Church, doing such things as making and serving meals at the Transition house, helping paint the S.A.F.E. house (Services for Adolescent & Family Enrichment), and helping with some youth group projects. Andrew has also volunteered at few of United Way's Days of Caring and has recently joined the Santa Barbara Parrot Head Club. Parrot Head Clubs are for fans of Jimmy Buffett to get together and 'Party with a Purpose'...we fulfill boths sides of that very well. Having fun while doing a lot of great projects to help the community. We participate and volunteer at the local Alzheimer's Memory Walk every year, beach clean up day, and several other projects including a lot of fundraising for charitable organizations. Andrew loves the outdoors and is very happy to live on a friend's avocado ranch in Glen Annie Canyon. His hobbies include, just about any sport, hiking, camping, biking, water skiing. He considers hiking Mt. Whitney in a day one of his most significant accomplishments; it is the highest point in the 48 coterminous United States, and can be found spending Labor Day weekend in Death Valley, the lowest point in the western hemisphere. Andrew has had a personal webpage since people first started having personal webpages. His website includes things like his movie page, Jimmy Buffett page, a tale of his trip to Australia last March (and other various adventures), and can be found at: AndrewNixon.com.

"Optimist Creed"
Promise yourself
• To be so strong nothing disturbs your peace of mind
• To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone you meet
• To make all your friends feel like there is something in them
• To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
• To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best |
• To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
• To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
• To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
• To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
• To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. |
