Andy Schumacher
Andrew Schumacher hails from Montana. Upon moving to Santa Barbara in 2005, he tried to find a place he could volunteer and make a difference. He found that opportunity with the Optimist Club at UCSB. Since joining Andrew has enjoyed helping raise money by working at the GIVE sale, volunteering as a track leader for the UCSB Children’s Day, and judging the Santa Barbara County Science Fair.
Andrew is a graduate student in the Neurobiology Research Institute at UCSB, and is currently working on Alzheimer’s Disease. When he is not working the lab, Andrew enjoys singing in the UCSB Gospel Choir, playing piano for the St. Mark’s Church Choir and running.
"Optimist Creed" Promise yourself •To be so strong nothing disturbs your peace of mind
•To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to everyone you meet
•To make all your friends feel like there is something in them
• To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
•To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best
•To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
• To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
• To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
• To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
• To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
