Welcome to the JCMC5 web site. Just what is JCMC5?, you ask. Well, this page is here to tell ya. We are a closed, topic discussion group, with cross-talk, followed by the meeting after the meeting E-mail group committed to sharing our experience, strength and hope, as well as our daily lives, while we trudge the road of happy destiny. Although some of our members are members of "other" programs too, we here at JCMC5 tend to stick to the Alcoholic's Anonymous way of recovery.
The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop drinking. How it works. Each month, someone volunteers to be the topic person of the month. This person puts a topic on the floor, so to speak, once a week, generally on Sunday. The topics are taken from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. Our members can choose to share on the current topic at anytime, usually within the same week. Just like an AA meeting though, nothing is mandatory here. There is no requirement to respond to the weeks topic at all. Additionally, we share our lives. Our ups and downs, successes and losses, we share funny things and things that hurt, anything at all that has to do with living "life on life's terms" and growing in sobriety. We are family.
History and stuff.
By now you're probably asking yourself "just what does JCMC5 stand for?"
JCMC stands for "John Cougar's Melon Camp"
An strange name for an online recovery group you might be thinking,
well find out just how that name came to be here: JCMC
The "5" is for the fifth group to form using the JCMC moniker. JCMC5 formed in 1999. This group (5) has had more members go through it in the passing parade than probably all of the rest of the JCMC groups. We, like most families, don't always agree with each other but that's no big deal.
We try to work things out amicably, but that doesn't always work either, in the long run, things work themselves out and we adhere to live and let live, one day at a time. A bunch of the JCMC5 members are also members of "The Wandering Juiceberries of AA" in Southern California. No matter where you are from you are welcome to join this group as long as we have room for ya. Keep in mind though,This is definitely not a group for people who offend easily and refuse to laugh at themselves.
Wanna' join us?
Our group is limited to 30 members. (there are 2 openings as of August 11, 2001) The mail volume is high, Somedays you might get as many as 60 posts, but there's no sense in belonging to a "silent" group. If you have the capacity to be honest, are serious about sobriety, and like to have fun, we'd like to hear from you. For more info, click HERE. |
