Dorothea Graf Friedrich nee Peters

The venerable old lady, Mrs. Dorothea Friedrich, nee Peters, wife of Mr. Wilhelm Friedrich, died Saturday evening at 10:20 PM at home at 519 North Illinois Street, at the age of 82 years and 9 months. The old lady suffered a stroke 2 years ago and could not speak since then. Six weeks ago she had a second stroke after which she could barely take fluids.

Mrs. Friedrich was born on March 23rd, 1817 in Trubenhausen by Witzenhausen in Kurhessen (Hessia). She married Mr. Johannes Graf in the old Fatherland, with whom she immigrated to the USA about 44 years ago (1859). The couple settled in Black Jack, Mo., where Mr. Graf died 33 years ago. The deceased came to Belleville in October 1874 and was married on the 30th of the same month to her surviving husband. Since then she lived in Belleville. She was a good honest German woman, who was respected by all who knew her.

Besides her husband she has the following surviving children: the widowed Mrs. Martha Lindemann in Black Jack, Mo., and Mrs. Elisabeth Ramspott, wife of Mr. Joseph Ramspott in St. Louis. Two Daughters, Mrs. Elise Lindemann and Mrs. Emma Blume preceded their mother in death 25 years ago. She also leaves 28 Grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at the funeral home and the Walnut Hill cemetery. Pastor Meyer of Christ Church will officiate.
