Veteran of OES at Bancroft Dies
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church for Mrs. James O. Copple, last surviving charter member of the Amethyst Chapter, No. 162, Order of the Eastern Star, at Bancroft. Mrs. Copple received her 50-year pin five years ago.
She was born Maggie L. Shaw on ??? She married James Oscar Copple September 29, 1887. She died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. U. S. Ross of Lyons.
Mrs. Copple's parents homesteaded in Nebraska when she was 6. Their place was the Tri-County Farm, at the corner where Burt, Thurston and Cuming Counties touched. Survivors include three daughters. Mrs. Ross, Mrs. John McCarthy, Grand Island, and Mrs. Edna Peterson, Vista, California; three sons, Charles, Rosalie; Dr. D. E. Pleasantville, N. Y., and Edwin, Chicago. Two children proceeded her in death, Ethel who died in infancy, and Harry who died in 1920.
