Basic MUSH Code

If You've MUSHed before then you won't need this page. I put it up because a lot of people who have never MUSHed before might find it helpful in getting started. You really don't need much more to be able to play affectively outside of your own imagination and ability to interact with others.

Talking:

The double quote (") will give you voice. Example: If Baby types: "I want to go to the store.
The other players see: Baby says, "I want to go to the store."
Baby will see: You say, "I want to go to the store."
Easy right? OK, let's move on.

Posing:

Posing lets you move and do things. Posing is an action. This is done with the full colon (:).
For example Kruegan types :does a happy dance.
Everyone sees: Kruegan does a happy dance.

There are times we want to pose using an apostrophe ('). Like saying Mac's fist does whatever (I suggest you duck). To do a pose like this you use a semi-colon (;)
For example Mac types: ;'s fist swings in a wide arc.
Everyone will see: Mac's fist swings in a wide arc.

With that you can pretty much pose almost anything you want and interact with other characters without a lot of difficulty. However, sometimes you may want to write something that doesn't start with your character's name. You may want to start a pose with something like: As the sun sets there is the distant sound of a motorcycle... etc. To do something like this you use an @emit. @emit sends exactly what you have typed as you have typed it.

For example to send the example above I would type @emit As the sun sets there is the distant sound of a motorcycle...

For RP this is all you really need. However, below I have added a few more commands that you may find useful.

OK, so what if you want to say something out of character? For that you simply type ooc in front of the action. You don't need to use the " to say something. ooc does that automatically. For example ooc I'm going to bed now, or ooc :kisses you goodnight.

One other command you may find helpful is the page. This will let you send a message to anyone on the MUSH. p <player>=<message>. For example:

p baby=How do I get to the Biker Camp?

Or you can page an action too. p Baby=:wants to know how to get to the camp. p Baby=:tickles you madly and wants to know how to get to the biker camp.
