We currently are in need of a committee chair and members. This unique new club will be taking over the current Campus
Improvement committee. It is a way for Paloma Dads to get together and make a
difference! Did you know that studies have shown that Dad’s Clubs significantly
improve the academic performance of children! Yes, Dads make a difference! This new Dad’s Club will be a helpful addition to our PTA.
They are planning on building booths for our Fiesta, flipping pancakes, cooking
hot dogs, repairs, painting, set-up , clean-up, etc. The Dad’s Club will meet as
needed, and is an excellent social outlet and a great networking opportunity.
Contact Bill Bounds or any board member if you are interested in hanging out
with really cool guys! This committee is responsible for seeking donations from a
variety of sources to minimize costs associated with the activities and events
of the Paloma PTA. If you are interested in helping with the committee, please
contact Martha Garner or any other board member. You told us, and we listened! We are replacing the Catalog
Sale with the Entertainment Book Sale. It is easy and can be sold to anyone,
anywhere. If you want to sell the book to friends and relatives back east or on
the west coast you can! They will receive an Entertainment Book for their
specific area. The books will run $20 each, and will come home with your child
on September 5th. Orders will be taken from Sept. 5th - Sept. 19th Please
contact Becky Magana if you would like to assist in this vital fundraising
opportunity for Paloma school. This committee is held in conjunction with the Bikes and
Blades. The committee is designed to promote health, welfare, and safety
awareness. If you are interested in helping with the committee, please
contact Deb Striker, Lisa Bjotvedt, or Terrina Storm Contact our Committee Chair, Heidi Sill if you are
interested in helping the teachers out in the workroom. This is the local version of the Legislative Liaisons. The
goal of these volunteers is to keep PTA members informed of current issues
facing the Kyrene School Board, as well as opportunities to participate. This is
also a non-partisan committee. Our school board liaison is Beth Doney. There are many programs available to public schools to earn
money or supplies by redeeming grocery receipts and food labels. These
volunteers collect and submit grocery receipts, Big G box tops, and Campbell's
soup labels. Our labels and receipts coordinator for this year is Suzy Andress. These volunteers monitor education-related activities in
the state legislature and inform Paloma PTA members of current issues and ways
to participate in the legislative process. While individual liaisons may have
their own opinions, this (like all official PTA activities) is a non-partisan
effort. The goal is to keep PTA members informed and to encourage participation,
not to lobby for any particular side of an issue. Beth Doney is our legislative
liaison this year. This committee promotes membership and maintains membership
records for the Paloma PTA. The co-chair for this committee is Jane Johnson. The Paloma PTA newsletter is a large undertaking that is
prepared by the board and committee chairmen. To help with communication a
Newsletter will be coming out each month. And will be posted on our website to
be downloaded. This committee is formed two months prior to electing a new
board and is responsible for nominating interested candidates for board
positions. Additional nominations will also be taken prior to voting. Additional
information can be found in the Paloma PTA bylaws. These volunteers will attend the monthly meetings with the
superintendent. These meetings are held at district schools. Please contact a
Board member if you are interested in this committee. Students will receive an envelope prior to the event, and
will be encouraged to gain sponsorship for minutes read during the read-a-thon.
The students will read, or be read to, for a maximum of 100 minutes (or 20
minutes per day) during the event. At the conclusion of the week, students will
collect their pledge monies. Proceeds from this event will be used to support
grade level literacy - divided equally between the grades. Please contact a
board member or Committee Chair Beth Doney if you are interested in helping. This committee is responsible for running the school's
Reflections Program. To read more about this national art program, visit our
Reflections Page or the National PTA Reflections Program web page. Paloma has participated in the program for two years and
has sent numerous entries to the state-level competition, with one going all the
way to the national level! We currently have one volunteer for this committee and are
in need of a chairperson. To volunteer to help with this program, please contact a
board member. Additional information about arts education: This committee is responsible for handling the bulk
paperwork necessary for communication with parents and teachers. Most work can
be done from home, but some trips to school are required for pick-up/drop-off
and copying. We are currently in need a chairperson for this committee. Please
contact a board member or volunteer coordinator for more information. This committee, led by Tammy Schick, is responsible for
activities throughout the year that are geared toward showing the Paloma
teachers and staff that we appreciate their efforts on behalf of the children of
Paloma Elementary. Some of the activities that are typically planned include the

more information. These volunteers recruit other volunteers for the
committees and events sponsored by the Paloma PTA. Volunteers are also sought to
assist the teachers and administration of Paloma Elementary. We are currently in
need a chairperson for this committee. These volunteers publish information relating the Paloma
PTA and Paloma Elementary School on the Paloma PTA Web Site: www.palomapta.org.
