Please contact a PTA board member for additional information or to volunteer to help with any of the committees listed here.

Special event committees are covered on a separate web page that includes information about each event.

After School Club

We currently are in need of a committee chair and members.

Dad’s Club

This unique new club will be taking over the current Campus Improvement committee. It is a way for Paloma Dads to get together and make a difference! Did you know that studies have shown that Dad’s Clubs significantly improve the academic performance of children! Yes, Dads make a difference!

This new Dad’s Club will be a helpful addition to our PTA. They are planning on building booths for our Fiesta, flipping pancakes, cooking hot dogs, repairs, painting,  set-up , clean-up, etc. The Dad’s Club will meet as needed, and is an excellent social outlet and a great networking opportunity. Contact Bill Bounds or any board member if you are interested in hanging out with really cool guys!

Donations Committee

This committee is responsible for seeking donations from a variety of sources to minimize costs associated with the activities and events of the Paloma PTA. If you are interested in helping with the committee, please contact Martha Garner or any other board member.

Entertainment Book Sale

You told us, and we listened! We are replacing the Catalog Sale with the Entertainment Book Sale. It is easy and can be sold to anyone, anywhere. If you want to sell the book to friends and relatives back east or on the west coast you can! They will receive an Entertainment Book for their specific area. The books will run $20 each, and will come home with your child on September 5th. Orders will be taken from Sept. 5th - Sept. 19th   Please contact Becky Magana if you would like to assist in this vital fundraising opportunity for Paloma school.

Kyrene School Board Liaisons

This is the local version of the Legislative Liaisons. The goal of these volunteers is to keep PTA members informed of current issues facing the Kyrene School Board, as well as opportunities to participate. This is also a non-partisan committee. Our school board liaison is Beth Doney.

Labels & Receipts Coordinators

There are many programs available to public schools to earn money or supplies by redeeming grocery receipts and food labels. These volunteers collect and submit grocery receipts, Big G box tops, and Campbell's soup labels. Our labels and receipts coordinator for this year is Suzy Andress.

Legislative Liaisons

These volunteers monitor education-related activities in the state legislature and inform Paloma PTA members of current issues and ways to participate in the legislative process. While individual liaisons may have their own opinions, this (like all official PTA activities) is a non-partisan effort. The goal is to keep PTA members informed and to encourage participation, not to lobby for any particular side of an issue. Beth Doney is our legislative liaison this year.

Membership Committee

This committee promotes membership and maintains membership records for the Paloma PTA. The co-chair for this committee is Jane Johnson.

Newsletter

The Paloma PTA newsletter is a large undertaking that is prepared by the board and committee chairmen. To help with communication a Newsletter will be coming out each month. And will be posted on our website to be downloaded.

Nominating Committee

This committee is formed two months prior to electing a new board and is responsible for nominating interested candidates for board positions. Additional nominations will also be taken prior to voting. Additional information can be found in the Paloma PTA bylaws.

Parent Superintendent Meeting Representatives

These volunteers will attend the monthly meetings with the superintendent. These meetings are held at district schools. Please contact a Board member if you are interested in this committee.

Read-a-Thon

Students will receive an envelope prior to the event, and will be encouraged to gain sponsorship for minutes read during the read-a-thon. The students will read, or be read to, for a maximum of 100 minutes (or 20 minutes per day) during the event. At the conclusion of the week, students will collect their pledge monies. Proceeds from this event will be used to support grade level literacy - divided equally between the grades. Please contact a board member or Committee Chair Beth Doney if you are interested in helping.

This committee is responsible for running the school's Reflections Program. To read more about this national art program, visit our Reflections Page or the National PTA Reflections Program web page.
