Star Gazing Night

Tuesday, May 25, 2004
7:15 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Tony and Carole LaConte will come out and set up telescopes, provide a short presentation, and give participants a chance to see different planets through the telescopes.

7:15-7:30 Free-running slide show in the MPR
7:30-8:00 Presentation on the night sky
8:00-9:00 Come outside to view the moon and stars through their great set of telescopes

Feel free to bring your own telescope and/or a single reflex or digital camera (for photographing the moon through a telescope).

Meet Your Teacher Night

Thursday, August 7, 2003
5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

While this program is organized by the Kyrene School District, it is also your first chance to meet the new Paloma PTA Board. We'll be in the school library throughout the evening. Use this opportunity to find out more about all of the committees and events highlighted on this web site. We'll also be selling Paloma T-shirts and enrolling members for the 2003-2004 school year.

To reduce congestion in the kindergarten classrooms, please follow the following schedule:

Morning kindergarten: 5:30-6:15 p.m.
Afternoon kindergarten: 6:15-7:00 p.m.

Welcome Back Parents' Reception

Monday, August 11, 2003
7:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Paloma library

A reception will be held for parents to welcome them to Paloma. This event is organized by the Hospitality Committee, led this year by Tammy Schick. To help, contact Tammy or a board member.

Curriculum Nights

These night-time meetings are organized by the school to provide a time for teachers to present the curriculum to parents in an adult-only environment. Day care is provided by the PTA for potty-trained children aged 3 and up.

Ice Cream Social

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Paloma MPR

This is the first social event of the year. Join us for ice cream, snow cones, door prizes and more. Get reacquainted with old friends and make some new ones. This annual event is organized by a seasonal committee, led again this year by Michelle Castellano, Maria Piccirilli, and Laura Radford, which began planning during the summer and will complete arrangements during the first month of school. Volunteers are needed to help plan the event, set up, clean up, and assist during the event.

Fall Harvest Pancake Breakfast and Pumpkin Patch

Saturday, October 25, 2003
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

This is a new event! We will be have a Pumpkin Patch, and our new Dads Club will be having a Pancake Breakfast so families can buy pumpkins and join us for breakfast!

We will have a lot of pumpkins to pick from, just in time for the annual Pumpkin Walk!

Holiday Angels

December 8 - 12

This is a community service project for the entire school. One or more needy families in the Chandler area will be identified as needing assistance. Paloma families will have the opportunity to share our abundance by donating clothing items, canned foods, or pick a Holiday Angel with a gift request to donate to a little one. The families will also receive a Christmas tree complete with ornaments (compliments of the kids on Holiday Fun Day).

This event is in need of a coordinator and volunteers.

Paloma PTA Reflections Program

This is an arts program sponsored by the National PTA. The program at Paloma Elementary will be coordinated by the Reflections Committee, led by Melinda Brown and Lara Ketterman.

Complete details are posted on the Reflections page. The entry deadline is January 8, 2004 and a recognition event will be held January 27, 2004.

Garage Sale& Blood Drive

New this year, a FIESTA! We will be giving our carnival a new twist, including new booths, rides, food and a raffle with great prizes!

This event is organized by a seasonal committee, led this year by Rosa Lathrop.

Read-a-thon

April 19-23, 2004

The PTA will be sponsoring a read-a-thon during TV Turn-off Week. This is a great opportunity to replace television with literature and will also raise money for literacy at Paloma. For more information, see the Fundraising Page. This event is organized by a seasonal committee, led this year by Beth Doney.

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic
