Silence in the Night

The howling wind makes its presence known
and is the bully of blizzards, hurricanes and tornadoes.

A deafening pounding rainstorm can drown out a conversation
or worse, deprive you of sleep,

And then there's the tapping tone of freezing rain
as it pings against the window pane

Day or night the thunder shouts, "I am here",
while often escorted by its brilliant companion.

But it is the silent falling snow
that stealthily creeps in...
and when the snow sneaks in while we sleep
we are blinded by a blanket of white upon awakening.
