Metamorphosis

Her majestic stature stands erect,
and her nakedness clearly depicts her beauty.
Bravely, she endures the cold, the snow,
and the wind-swept rains of winter.

When spring arrives it allows this natural beauty
to sprout a sparse protection.
Then with each passing day, a transformation is evitable,
as she dons a luscious green coat,
which she proudly wears throughout the summer.

Slowly and miraculously, the fall causes another metamorphosis.
Her coat will highlight her beauty
with exciting shades of crimson, orange, and yellow.

Ironically when protection from winter seems vital,
she will stand naked against the elements.
And the only shawl she will wear for the next few months
will be that of snow and ice.
