Mother

My Mother is crying - weeping
Her children no longer honor and protect Her
Their allegiance belong to the god of greed

Her children inflict pain by
polluting Her waters
stripping Her rainforests
poisoning Her earth, and the air that surrounds Her

Not only does She weep for Herself
She weeps for Her children.
And all of Her tears cannot cleanse away
the damage Her offspring has done.
