Ocean Tag

Alone, I walk the sandy shore
engulfed by an ocean mist so dense
the sun's rays cannot penetrate it.

The hypnotic pulsating sound of the foghorn
is intermingled with the sporadic songs from a diverse mix of feathered friends
performing aerial acrobatics over the nearby salt pond.

A solitary gull enjoys a ride on the white-crested wave -
the envy of many a surfer.

Repeatedly, the ocean releases its breath upon the shore
with a thunderous crash, and a playful game of tag.

I am alone - but not lonely.
