Charles Rockwell, b. 21 Dec. 1883, was educated in the public schools and at Morse's Business College, and is a skilled mechanic. From 8 Aug. 1900 to 27 July 1901 he was in the training course for apprentice seamen in the U.S. Navy, serving five months at the Training Station at Newport, R. I., and six months on the U.S. S. Monongahela; finding sea service to be uncongenial he purchased his discharge and settled in South Windsor, Conn., securing employment as a mechanic in Hartford, Conn. For two years he was a member of the First Company of the Governor's Foot Guards of Connecticut.

He m. at New York City, 16 Feb. 1909, Mabel. Martha Jackson, b. there 27 Nov. 1891, daughter of George Arthur and Josephine Maria (Hicks) Jackson.
