Rob Mehl is an outstanding singer/songwriter
with deep island roots. His music tells the story of a lifetime love affair with the sea and pays tribute to all of the
artists who have inspired him over the years. Since Rob's music career began in 1972, he's been a soft voice and quiet guitar telling palapa-style tales from beaches all over the world. Now he's got some gray in his beard and some edge in his voice, but eyes that still sparkle with wonder and stories that will intrigue you and invite you to join the voyage.
According to Rob: "My family moved to Hawaii in 1959 and even though I was just a little guy, my parents let me walk up and down the beach on my own. I'd see these groups of people sitting under the banyan trees singing, playing their ukuleles, strumming slack-key guitars, telling stories about the sea. They're really the ones who taught me respect for the ocean and how to surf and that it was a privilege and an honor not to be taken lightly.”
Rob still travels the world with his guitars, his ukulele and his longboards and finds that the locals from Waikiki to Encinitas to Key West enjoy his salt-water flavored music.
