News for August, 2005

August 6: Family Style Barbecues Starting on August 6, we'll be opening up the Sanctuary to the public on a weekly basis. Kind Folk are welcome to drop by as early as Friday and hang with us all day Saturday for a family-style barbecue and music circle in one of the many public parks near my home. For more details, please send us an Email.
August 26: LAN Parties!: Starting August 26th, the last Friday of every month we'll be hosting an LAN Parties at Cyber City. Come on down and play all night, meet the parents, kids and teachers of our community schooling program, eat some junk food and have a good time.

Crash at the Sanctuary: Our Kind Sanctuary has broadband computer access, 5 disc dvd player with surround-sound stereo, washer/drier and dishwasher. These services are provided free of charge to anyone that wishes to contribute to our cooperative. You can rent out crash space by the night or by the week or volunteer your time towards the teaching cooperative which helps provide a quality full-time education for the kids and families involved in our Youth Outreach.

The Healing House: All of this is part of a unique community outreach program that will allow the Sanctuary to serve as a Healing House and Interactive Learning Environment called a Sudbury Home. For the first few months we will be open to the public only on Fridays and Saturdays but after a momentum is established we'll be opening up during the week and planning some field trips and pilgrimages. So if you're interested in helping us out, please drop us a line.

Coffee Socials & Hikes: If you're up for it, all are welcome to attend early morning hikes through the valley followed by a coffee social and pot-luck breakfast.

Drum Circles & Classes: Our Open Home will soon be open to the public seven days a week for a variety of classes, outings and activities. All volunteers are encouraged to help out in whatever they can and everyone is invited to take part.

Class Cutters, our Youth Outreach program is growing in leaps and bounds, please make sure to check out the Class Cutters Yahoo!Group for more information.

Just in Time! We now have an Egold Account with our EIN. Egold will allow you to make donations electronically if you have an account with them and the EIN now allows us to cash checks and money orders. Thanks so much for your support! Please make sure to check out our fine selection of Gifts.

We're still working on those forms. With the EIN out of the way and a source of income for our artists, we now have 2 years to file for our 501 Status. The sooner the better, of course, but staying out of the red is top priority. If you want to be involved in the decision making process, make sure to join our Yahoo!Group.

Thanks!

Over the next few months we're planning a bunch of mini-fundraisers that will help us along until the grants come through. So keep in touch.

If you would like to help out, you can Volunteer as a teacher or student, Join our Merchant Showcase or Make a Donation.

I would like to thank all the brave and generous people that have contributed to this project so far. We couldn't have done it without you. This only seems like an uphill struggle because we're the first to do this in a long, long time. The road still needs to be cleared of generations of accumulated clutter before we can use it.

Rest assured that because we're going through this now and sharing everything we've learned along the way, we're making it easier for anyone coming this way after us.

This can only get better.
