Young Adult Beginning Experience (YABE) is a weekend program of healing, support and celebration of life and faith for those who have experienced parental death or divorce.
The weekend helps you...
know you are not alone if you come from a divorced, separated or widowed family.
discover the wonder of being alive.
The weekend is not...
a sensitivity group or a substitute for counseling.
a religious retreat, but does have a Christian foundation.
The weekend offers...
a fresh and different atmosphere to discover who you are away from your home, job and/or school.
an opportunity to share your hopes, concerns and ideals.
hope in facing tomorrow.
a time to make new beginnings in your relationships with yourself, family, friends and God.
a chance to make new friends.
The weekend has changed lives:
"I found out I don't have to put up a front with my feelings. I can be a better person if I free myself from pretending my feelings are something they aren't." Janet age 19
"I realized that I am a gift from God and God doesn't want me to cover anything up. I had covered up a lot of hurt from the past. I feel lighter now." Norman age 24
"I learned that feeling are neither good or bad, but that they just are. I also learned that many other people experience the same feelings that I do." Mike age 20
"I discovered that I wasn't alone and there were people I could talk to and they would understand because they went through it too." Julie age 17
