Pawtuxet Rangers
Announce Grant Awards!
The Pawtuxet Rangers RIM 1774, our local state-chartered Militia and Fife and Drum Corp from Pawtuxet Village, wishes to announce two recent grant awards. As many of you are aware we were given $30,000 by the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission late last year during their State Preservation Grant- Round 1. In fact we were the only building applicant from the West Bay region at that time and only 26 out of 46 applicants were funded. We have repeated that achievement this year as well with a $68,353 award from The State during Round 2. This time there were 49 applicants and only 24 were funded. Our organization was one of two with awards from the West Bay area and only one of three that also received an award from The State two years in a row.
In addition, the Pawtuxet Rangers would like to genuinely thank Henry A. L. Brown for his recent donation for this ongoing restoration project. Other donations and grant awards are pending and additional funds are continuously being sought.
In order to completely restore the outside of Armory Hall some further resources are needed. Once the exterior restoration is completed the interior restoration will begin. Please consider sending a donation to this 501(C)(3) non-profit; totally volunteer organization whose primary mission is to perpetuate our colorful state history. No donation is ever considered too small! Checks should be made out to the Pawtuxet Rangers and mailed to Armory Hall, c/o Sgt. Denise M. Foggo, Grant Coordinator, 59 Remington Street, Warwick, RI 02888. Please include your complete name and address information so a receipt for tax purposes can be sent to you. You can also visit Armory Hall on Wednesday evenings or by scheduling an appointment by calling 785-1774. Additional information about this group can be found at their extensive Web site at www.pawtuxetrangers.com.
