7/28/00 Dammit!...my counter's all screwy again. =( To one of the funniest
guys I know, I wish you a very Happy Birthday, Darwin! Also, a happy belated birthday to Jrod & Mary...whose birthdays were yesterday! Hoped you both had a memorable one! =)
Last night I caught the HBO special of N'Sync Live. *blush* I wasn't a fan of N'Sync, but I think I have a newfound respect and admiration for them. I mean, it wasn't like I hated them. It's just that all these boy-bands seem the same to me...catchy songs that get played out. But after watching the concert...I must admit, I was impressed. The concert was amazing! I was in awe of the production, choreography, pyrotechnics, and lights. Especially the opening number...the marionette aerial suspension in tribute to their "No Strings Attached" album.
In small way, watching it reminded me of the good ol' Mr. Asian days. I remember going to weeknight meetings in S.F., getting together at Kin Tin (or some place in Chinatown), and brainstorm ideas for the next Mr. Asian show. We entertained the thought of aerial suspension once, but insurance and liability for that was too much. We had so many great ideas. *sigh* Anyhow, the days of Mr. Asian are now over, and despite what Ivy and Cin say about it...I miss it. Last week I got a bunch of emails from the BACSAA girls saying that the show, "Making the Band" really brings back memories of Mr. Asian rehersals for them. Other than the very first episode, I haven't been following it. Which, from the sounds of it, might be a good thing. =) This weekend looks busy for me. Tonight, I have dinner with family and family friends. Tomorrow, I'm going to Millie's bridal shower in the City - lunch, followed by a facial/massage in Union Square. Then I'm going to meet Cin, Matty, Wil, Tony, Bett, and Ivy either for dinner and a movie, or the Glas Kat Club....I'm not sure yet. On Sunday, I'm hanging out with one of my best guy friends. YAY!...I haven't seen him in ages! Have a great weekend! |

7/24/00 Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. My weekend flew by quickly. On Friday night, Wil and I had to help out at Sis' store. Sis took a much deserved couple of days off to Yosemite. The area around the store used to be really shady - gangsters, dealers, pimps, prostitutes, crack- heads, etc. And whatever happened, always happend right in our parking lot. I've witnessed gang fights, shootings, drug overdoses, domestic violence...you name it, I've seen it. But in the past 5 years, the area's cleaned up a lot. Wil did the funniest thing on Friday night. This guy came in looking for something, and she shouts across the store, "Hey, can I help you?...if you're looking for the Chore Boy, it's back here!" It must have been his unruly appearance, but nevertheless...DAMN!...Wil might as well have called him a low-grade crackfiend to his face. =O For those of you who might not know, Chore Boy (yes, the copper pot scouring pad) can also be used as a screen/filter for crack cocaine. We keep that, along with aluminum foil, baby food jars, and the small boxes of baking soda, behind the counter. We used to keep it stocked on the shelves until we discovered that those items were constantly "missing". I used to joke about putting those items together like a "gift basket" at Christmas time. HAHAHAHAHA Anyhow, back to my story...Wil was lucky, because that guy didn't catch what she said. But I had a good laugh out of that. I just want to say...I
have NO pity for panhandlers! I know this could spark controversy,
but I'm sorry, I just don't believe there's a point in helping people
who have no desire to help themselves. There's this homeless guy who
always hangs out at the store. He's harmless enough, so we never ask
him to leave or anything. On Friday, I gave him two perfectly fresh
bagels with two kinds of shmears. Guess what he did with them? He
chucked them as far as he could, just for the hell of it. I was so
pissed!!! I yelled at him for doing that, but he said that he will
pick them up later on. Saturday, Aric and I got up for breakfast at IHOPS. We ran errands and bought stuff to upgrade my slow @ss computer. We had dinner with Cin, Matty, Bett, Wil, and Tony at Hotaru's in San Mateo. Then we caught
We all agreed that the movie was great! We all left wishing we were mutants. hehehehe Sunday was relaxing. Aric, Wil, Tony, and I ate brunch at our favorite hole-in-the-wall chinese place, then walked around Ranch 99. Aric and I watched TV, until it was time for me to take him to the airport. *sigh* I miss him already. Have a nice day! |

7/17/00 All I have to say is...."weekends are something to look forward to again!" =) How was everyone's weekend? I spent another fun and relaxing weekend with my family and friends. On Friday night, I had dinner with my family at our favorite little hole-in-the-wall chinese place, went grocery shopping with Wil & Tony, and marinated and prepped food for Cin & Matty's Luau.
On Saturday, Bett and I had lunch and ran errands. I think it's been a good three weeks since I last saw or spoke to her, and it was nice catching up. The Luau was great! It was an intimate little gathering...with a close group of friends and lots of food. Matty's an excellent cook. He made the Kalua Pig and Poki (under the strict guidance of Mike). Wil made Cin's top-secret Somien Salad, Ivy made the her infamous Kalbi, and Bett and I made haupia, mango pudding, veggie kabobs, garlic corn-on-the-cob, and our secret spicy noodle dish.
Thanks to Tony, for being our Grill-Master for the evening. We hung out in our ultra loud Aloha shirts, ate, and watched Cin & Matt's wedding video. *sniff* It was wonderful!
Sunday, I went to Baby E's birthday party. I was surrounded by kids all day. They're really cute and all...but I think I can definitely wait before having any of my own. I don't know what it is, but lately I've been surrounded by screaming children. It's not just screaming, but I've witnessed several tyrrants that are scary enough to prevent me from ever wanting children. =/ Of course, my mother always reassures, "but your kids won't be that way". Yeah, right....with my luck, they'll be worse. Have a nice monday! |

7/14/00 Happy Friday! This weekend, we're celebrating
the first wedding anniversary of Cin & Matty! To me, it's especially sentimental and sweet because I've been with them along the way...from when they first started going out and the years that followed, the announcement of their engagement, the wedding, and even their honeymoon! Yup...believe it, I was there! =D I have always felt close to Cin & Matty, and even more so this year. CONGRATULATIONS, you guys! Wishing us continued happiness and love. I mean, YOU...Wishing YOU continued happiness and love. hehehe We're throwing them a luau, complete with kalua pig, tiki torches, poki, and Hawaiian Punch. Mmmmm-mmm! =) Speaking of marital bliss, Matty dropped me an email congratulating me on my engagement to Tom Green. I was like,"HUH?!" haha-hmmmm...funny, I get it. =T *stoopid*
This Sunday is also my
niece's first birthday! Have a wonderful weekend! |

7/13/00 YAY! I'm no longer unemployed! I started my new job today, and it was GREAT! I had spent the past three weeks interviewing, kickin' it at home, being my parents' personal errand-girl, and stressing out.....but, NO MORE! I'm working for an exciting hi-tech company as an Inside Sales Specialist. During the past three weeks, I realized that I'm not a 'stay-at-home' kind of person. I sort of noticed it when I was stuck at home during the radiation therapy recovery. But I was especially bummed when I wasn't working. When everyone told me not to worry and enjoy the break, I really couldn't. Even the weekends didn't feel like weekends, ya know? *sigh* I'm so relieved and happy now! A big "THANK YOU" to all my friends and family for all their encouragement and support. =D Okay, to catch some of you up on my Disneyland trip last week. I had a fantastic time!
It really is the "Happiest Place on Earth"! Aric, his co-workers and I spent 13 hours in Disneyland. We got in some really good rides, ate, saw Fantasmic, ate, and saw the fireworks. Disneyland is building onto to the park; two sections: 1) rides...big, huge, grand, colossal rides! 2) restaurant row (similar to Universal City Walk). It's expected to open in February 2001. Ooooooh, I can't wait! Now that I'm resuming a more "normal" schedule...I'll be updating regularly again. =) |

7/7/00 Happy Friday! I've been so bad at updating these days. The past week kept me really busy. Last weekend, I spent it like I said I would...with my parents. It was really nice to spend time with them. It's funny, but during these occasions, I noticed how much they've changed thought the years. For example, my dad never used to eat salad. First of all, it's not cooked, and if it's not sashimi, then it better be cooked. Secondly, vegetables were not satisfying enough. Lastly, lettuce was more rabbit food than a meal for humans. But now, my parents enjoy going to Fresh Choice. My dad gets happy because he qualifies for the senior discount there. hehehehe Anyhow, I cherish these times I get to spend time with my parents. They are two very fun people! Last Sunday, I went to Lee's BBQ. It was really great seeing all my old chinese school friends, and friends from the wonder years. It was especially nice to see Chinch and Elda, who were visiting from the East Coast. I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance. That night, I met up with Craig for an early birthday celebration. We met up at the Union City Century theaters to see "Boys and Girls". But before we got a chance to see the movie, they evacuated the whole theater...all 25 of them. Apparently somebody set off some smoke bombs or something, and the place was completely billowing smoke. So we decided to just grab a bite at TGIF's. Monday, Aric, Ed, and Sue flew in. We looked at some model homes and had lunch at the "Fresh Lattitudes Cafe"....which used to go by the name of "World Wrapps". They pretty much have the same menu except they feature a new Bento box lunch, and they no longer serve the steak/mashed potato wrapp. *bummer!* We caught a matinee of "The Patriot". A lot of people said that they didn't like it, but I really liked it. That cute little girl (Susan), with the angelic face, completely broke my heart. *sniff* On Fourth of July, Aric, Ed, Sue, and I met up with Cin and Matty at Embarcadero Center, and decided to hoof it to Pier 39....it was a gorgeous day, nice and breezy, lots of people, and we anticipated that traffic was going to be hell...not to mention the lack of parking. We spent most of the afternoon at the Pier and Fisherman's Wharf, snacking on Trish's Mini-doughnuts, Clam Chowder, hot dogs, and Ed and Sue's nine-dollar cherries. We watched the fireworks from Ghiradelli Square, and it was absolutely breath-taking. It's been years since I've seen fireworks, and it always makes me feel like a kid. I squealed, ooh-ed and ahh-ed for the first 5 minutes. It was awesome! The walk back from Ghiradelli to Embarcadero was tiring...but we passed up all the cars that were stuck in traffic for hours. We topped off the evening with drinks up at the Equinox. That was the highlight of my week. Right now, I'm sitting here at Aric's work, waiting for him to wrap up a meeting so we can leave. I flew in this morning and I've been playing his personal secretary most of the afternoon. Too bad he can't pay me good money, cuz this is pretty fun. HAHAHAHA Speaking of jobs, I've had many headhunters call me, and I've been busy interviewing. There is a place I'm interested in, which is in close proximity to my old work. That means the commute will still suck, but at least I can have lunch with my friends whenever I want. We'll see, though. I'll keep you guys posted. Tomorrow, Aric and I are going to Disneyland. It's been a couple of years since I last went. We'll see if it's still the "happiest place on earth". =D Have a good weekend! |

6/30/00 I apologize for the lack of updates. Remember a couple of weeks ago, when I was complaining about the way my job unloaded a bunch of responsibilities on to me? Well, last week I quit! Yup...things were getting worse every day. You know things are falling apart when the sweetest, most patient, hardworking, and softspoken girl in the office has a nervous break down and starts giving people a piece of her mind. =O After I quit, I hopped on the next flight to Irvine. I spent the next four daysrelaxing and unwinding. Aric was great!....really supportive, and let me cry and vent for hours about how completely cheated, overworked, and underappreciated I felt. We had a pretty low-key weekend, just hanging out with friends. It was nice to spend some
time doing nothing, because once I got back, I was really busy. Almost
everyday, I've been busy with interviews and such. It kind of makes
me feel like I should have quit long time ago. hehehehehee...yeah,
right. Well this weekend, everyone's going up to Tahoe or having BBQ's. I'm staying home to spend some time with my parents. They got back from Mongolia last week, and we've all been so busy, that I haven't gotten a chance to catch up with them. My dad is so funny...he brought back a dinosaur bone he found in the Desert. It is his most prized possession now. Of course the skeptics that we are, Wil and I interrogated him until his irritation was apparent: Peg: "uh, how do you
know it's not just a fossilized piece of bark?...or poo?...hey,
it might just be a petrified bone from another animal.....how can
you be sure???" I figured if it gave my dad so much joy, then why burst his bubble. =P Anyhow, as you can see...there's not much to update on. Just been job hunting. Have a nice weekend! |

6/14/00 Whooo-wheee, it's HOT today! It was pretty darn hot last night too...an uncomfortable 88 degrees in my room, and 86 degrees outside with no sign of a breeze. I think I tossed and turned in bed for almost an hour before I finally fell asleep (I had a weird dream too, check it out on the dream log). Tonight I'll turn on my little portable fan and maybe sleep in the buff. =) My old roommate, Carolyn, used to sleep naked....and we shared a room. She would get into bed, take off her nightshirt, and throw it onto the floor. Not to sound like a total prude, but I didn't know her that well. I lived with her for less than a couple months, so to me, I thought she was pretty bold and proud. Sometimes, she would let out little sighs before bed, indicating just how comfortable she felt. So one time I tried it...and it wasn't all that comfortable. I mean, first of all, I have tendencies to kick off covers when I'm hot. Secondly, I'm like a contortionist in my sleep....waking up in all sorts of funky positions (that are far from graceful looking). Anyhow, my guy friends were definitely intrigued by her when they found out. Even to this day, the mere thought of Carolyn makes them smile. First thing tomorrow morning, I'm going in for my Radioactive Iodine Therapy. It's for Graves Disease: http://my.webmd.com/content/asset/adam_disease_graves_disease Something I didn't know I had for years until last year. I didn't display any of the common symptoms except for trembling hands, nervousness, and fatigue. One of the symptoms of Graves' is weight loss, but for me and 5% of women with Graves', I gained weight....a whopping 35 pounds in 2 months! After a year, I managed to lose it all. *whew!* =) But it still amazes me that it took over 8 months to lose something I gained in 2 months! So for people who say that they want to lose 10 lbs in one month.....shyeah, right! It's very very hard! Anyhow, I consider myself pretty lucky. I read about other womens' stories dealing with their Graves', and a bunch of them experienced suicidal tendancies. *zoiks!* Scary! Anyway, I'll be spending the next four days at home catching up on my sleep and movies.
Have a nice day! |

6/13/00 Yesterday was such a crazy day! Traffic was horrible in the morning, I had meetings all day, found out that they decided to move me and this other guy from Customer Service to Sales. On top of that, they also decided to increase my working hours and give me a lot more work (of course without a pay increase). Gawd, I'm such a sucker! I let them do this to me twice already! >=( It's amazing that in this day, age, and market of stock options, flexible schedules, signing bonuses, and obscene salaries, my company manages to bend me over and ream me up the butt over and over again. So now aside from customer service responsibilities, I'm in charge of inside sales for our HPNA, HPN-i, HPN-e and VoIP products. I'm so sad...especially after returning from a fun, but tiring, weekend. BTW, Vegas was great! Pretty much everyone who played at the tables won this weekend! COOL! =) On Friday, a bunch of us cruised the Forum Shops and ate at Caesars.
Half the group partied at Hard Rock that night until the sun came up. On Saturday, we hung out at the pool, ate lunch, and soaked up some sun. The weather was a beautiful 98 degrees. Saturday night, we all split up for dinner since some of us wanted buffet, some wanted sushi, and others wanted Morton's steaks.
We all met up at Rio and danced the night away!
That night, Aric and I took a walk around the gardens of Flamingo Hilton and got pictures of these cute penguins and flamingos (they really do sleep on one leg)!
Sunday, all of us got together for brunch at Raffles Cafe at Mandalay Bay (much thanks to Lyle and Denise for making reservations).
Mandalay Bay is really beautiful!...absolutely breath-taking. If it wasn't so far from everything, I would really love to stay there next time. They even have Krispy Kreme at Mandalay Bay!....oh, and Ricky Martin (in concert this weekend)....for those who are interested. Afterwards, we headed over to Venetian to gamble and shop.
Here's a pic of me and Bett with a live "statue". He really freaked Bett out! hehehehehe
We all left around the same time Sunday Night, except for Derrick, the baller, and Lyle & Denise, who stayed until Monday before heading back to Hawaii. A BIG "thanks" to everyone who made the weekend so much fun: Aric, Bett, Chris, Cin, Darwin, Dave, Denise, Derrick, Harrison, Ivan, Ivy, Janet, Kim, Lyle, Martin, Matty, Mike, Oli, Olivia, Paul, Steve, Tony, Wey, and Wil!.....looking forward to our next trip! =D Alright, I'm gonna continue sulking about my job now. Hope you have a nice day! |

6/9/00 Happy Friday! Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been so busy the last few days at work and home...but now I have the weekend to look forward to! =)
There are 20+ of us going this weekend and we're staying at the Flamingo.
We're gonna feast on buffets, play in the pool, shop at the Forum, party at clubs, drink till we're stoopid, and win some $$$! Wish me luck! =D Have a great weekend! |

6/6/00 "Why do nice guys finish last?" It's a question I've heard in the past by many male friends. Josh broke it down on his site once...and did a pretty good job doing so. Today, Wey sent me this link that has an explanation from a girl's point of view. It's really interesting...check it out: http://formen.ign.com/news/20427.html Over the weekend, Wil was telling us about her co-worker...whose boyfriend owns a jet and every weekend, even some weeknights, they'll fly somewhere for brunch or dinner. Just on a whim...they'll fly to Santa Monica for dinner...or have Sunday brunch in Santa Barbara...ski in Aspen...catch a Broadway musical in NYC. Of course, Aric and I looked at each other smiling, entertaining the thought of how cool it would be to be able to meet up for dinner or movies anytime we wanted. *sigh* So yesterday Aric looked into some aircraft: http://www.gulfstreampreowned.com/ac1272/index.htm *ahem* It's a little out of my price range, but if anyone is interested in pitching in, I'm willing to bust open my piggy bank. hehehehe Oh, and for you daring romantics out there, check this out: http://www.privatejetcharters.com/Packages.htm Have a great day! |

6/5/00 How was everyone's weekend? I had a great weekend! Friday night, Aric and I had dinner, then went to see "Gladiator". I caught more seeing it the second time around. On Saturday, Aric, Wey, Bett, Ivy, Wil, and I went shopping at Valley Fair, had lunch, rollerbladed/biked with Christel, Amanda, and Marisa, and washed our cars. Saturday night, we threw Bett a party at Dave and Buster's. Thanks so much for those of you who came out and made Bett's birthday party so memorable!
Also, Happy Belated Birthday to Sonny...aka, Josh of the notorious Swank Condo!
He, along with Craig, James and Um helped celebrate Bett's birthday at D&Bs on Saturday. It was great to see those guys again!
Sunday, Wil, Bett, Wey, Aric and I had lunch, then we vegged out and watched
I think Chris Klein (Oz) is a cutie-patootie! Anyhow, the rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and eating. Ahhh...my two most favorite things to do. =) Hope you're Monday is going as well as mine is. |

6/2/00 Happy Friday! This week went by pleasantly quick! =) Aric and Wey are flying up for Bett's birthday party this weekend. Woo-hoo! That's two weeks in a row that I get to see my boy! I'm getting so spoiled. hehehe I was telling Rich this morning that when I look at other couples, I get envious of the fact that they can see one another any time they want. That's a luxury Aric and I don't have. But I think we're lucky enough...I mean, at least we're in the same time zone, right? I can't complain about that. A few years back, I met a guy on a trip to Taiwan. He courted me and took me out almost every day for two weeks. The day I left, he cried and said that he'll wait for me. For the first couple of months, we kept in touch through letters, faxes, and phone calls. Now THAT'S what I call a long distance relationship! He would always propose marriage, but I found out later that he just wanted to marry my US passport. hahaha...what a loser. I wanted to wish Um "good luck" with his CFA exams tomorrow! Also, ABZOLUT - CLIMAX
- ELEMENT - LEGACY - MERRY - PREMIERE I'll be spending this weekend entertaining Wey. Have a great weekend! |

6/1/00 Whoa! I can't believe it's June already! June is one of my favorite months of the year. When I was growing up, it was the month that marked the end of the school year and the beginning of hot lazy days, riding bikes with friends, playing barefoot on the grass, running through sprinklers, sleeping on top of the covers, staying up late, and eating dinner in the backyard. Ahhhh! =) It's also the month in which my bestest friend in the whole wide world was born! Happy Birthday Bett! 26 Reasons Why Bett
Is My Best Friend I can go on and on about Bett. Through years of laughter, tears, laughter, hissy fits, laughter, hugs, laughter, misunderstandings, laughter, forgiveness, laughter, practical jokes, laughter, vengence, and more laughter...to know Bett is to truly adore her! I'm lucky to have her...along with Cin, Ivy, and Wil...for they have shown me what "friendship" truly means. They are more than just friends to me...I consider them sisters. Have a Happy Thursday! |
