Overview
Great strides have been made recently thanks
to help from members of The
Course Depot community, most notably CJB. Thanks to these efforts it is
now possible to produce very realistic looking panoramas that will help enhance
the look of your course theme by following the instructions in the tutorials
I have composed.
General Information
-
A TW2003 panorama consists of 12 individual
panels which are each 1024 pixels wide by a possible height of 256, 512
or 1024 pixels. The panels are wrapped together by the Library Creator program
to produce a continuous, flowing background image.
-
The final files you create or modify will
ultimately be copied into the Panoramas folder located in your EA SPORTS\EA
SPORTS Library Creator directory. They consist of the 12 panels named Pan
Segment 01.tga thru Pan Segment 12.tga and the RBK 12 Segment Pan.obj file.
-
I have spent a solid
two weeks time investigating how the panels are placed when the Library
Creator compiles a new panorama. There appears to be what I would define
as a bug that occurs during this process. The LC auto-fills any gaps between
panel segments incorrectly. EX: The left edge of Panel 01 is inserted in
between Panels 01 & 02. You will notice that most of the stock panoramas
use one image for all 12 panels and therefore the edge problem does not
cause any odd gap issues. A stock panorama such as Pebble Beach appears
to have been modified using an in-house utility to allow for seamless scenery.
However, if you try to simply cut up a full image into 12 pieces and then
load up the segments into the Library Creator using the stock RBK file there
will be strange looking slivers between any panel segments in which the
terrain changes in height or color. I sincerely hope EA/Headgate can address
this problem in a patch for the general public. Thankfully I have acquired
modified versions of the RBK file that correct the seam problems. There
is also a workaround technique explained in the tutorials which will also
produce quality results.
