Before Memorial Bridge
existed, this span (Woodrum Bridge) crossed the Roanoke River near
Grandin Road. (1908)

This was the appearance
of the original Texaco station located at the corner of Grandin Road
and Memorial Ave.

An early view of the Lee-Hi Auto Court on Brandon Ave. One of three adjacent motor courts along that stretch, opposite Rayphil's Swim Club, the Candlelite Club and Tex Burger.

The upper level of the
newly built Towers Shopping Center on Colonial Avenue. Some of the
original tenants were Colonial Stores, Penney's, Kenney Shoes,
Julien's Shoes, Sidney's, Woolworth's, Heironimus, Lazarus and
Davidson's.

The Shenandoah Life
Insurance Company built this structure on Brambleton Avenue in 1952,
across from Fishburn Park.
