Horses and automobiles, streetcar tracks and brick roads appear in this view of Jefferson Street.


Electricity for Roanoke's streetcar system was generated at Niagra Dam on the Roanoke River. This dam still exists today, and can be seen from the Roanoke River bridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway.


The Roanoke Hospital stood at the foot of Mill Mountain next to the Crystal Spring reservoir as its direct decendant Roanoke Memorial Hospital does today.


This 1936 view of Elmwood Park was taken from the Patrick Henry Hotel.


The Colonial Hills Club on Colonial Ave. was a popular place to hear local bands for many years. It had a walled patio in front that was once used for outdoor dining and dancing. (1968)
