Hare & Hound races
On Saturday and Sunday morning, November 20 & 21, some 50 colorful hot air balloons will participate in the thrilling "Hare & Hound races". The balloons will rise from Fields at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler, Arizona. Similar to the hare & hound events in England, balloons ("hounds") will chase one single balloon ("hare"). The hare balloon places a target on the ground where it landed. The hound balloons fly toward that target and toss small bean bag like ID. This target has a numbering system. The balloon that accumulates the most points throughout the two day competition wins cash prizes up to $5,000. Like playing darts from the sky. Spectators are encouraged to walk on the fields and watch the balloons inflate. Photo taking is invited.

Desert Glows
The 2004 Arizona Balloon Festival "Desert Glows" will take place Friday and Saturday evenings, November 19 & 20 at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler, Arizona and will feature more than 30 illuminated, tethered hot air balloons glowing in time to music. With activities for young and old alike, the "Desert Glows" will be a festive family event and fun for all. "Can the world's biggest tennis shoe fly?" spectators will be asking as novelty-shaped balloons participate in the crowd-pleasing event at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler, Arizona. "The Desert Glows" are a favorite of both amateur and professional photographers, and is a special treat for kids of all ages.
