City of Tempe offers bus, shuttle service for Fiesta Bowl events
TEMPE, Ariz. - The City of Tempe's Transit Office, Tempe in Motion, will
make it easy to get to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block Party on Friday, Dec.
31, 2004 and the Fiesta Bowl Football Classic on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005,
with extended bus and shuttle service.
For Friday, Dec. 31, 2004
Several Tempe bus routes will be extended to run every 30 minutes from 5
a.m. Dec. 31 to 2 a.m. Jan 1. Extended service bus routes include: Red Line,
30-University, 56-Priest, 62-Hardy, 65-Mill/Kyrene, 72-Scottsdale/Rural,
81-Hayden/McClintock and 92-48th Street/Guadalupe. All other bus routes
serving Tempe will operate according to regular schedules except the Route
66-Mill/68th Street, which will not operate north of downtown Tempe after 7
p.m. There will be no Flash Forward and Back or Flash to University Drive
bus service. Several bus routes serving the downtown Tempe area will be
detoured. Bus fare is $1.25 one way for adults and 60 cents for people age 6
to 18, people age 65 and older and people with disabilities.
A special park-and-ride shuttle will operate from Grace Community Church
(northwest corner of Southern Avenue and Dorsey Lane) and the Pyle Center
(southwest corner of Southern Avenue and Rural Road) to the Block Party
every 10 minutes from 4 to 11 p.m. Return shuttle service from the Block
Party to Tempe Diablo Stadium and the Pyle Center will operate until 2 a.m.
Cost to ride the shuttle is $2 roundtrip per person (children under six ride
free).
For Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005
Tempe in Motion will provide park-and-ride shuttle service from the Pyle
Center to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Football Classic. The shuttle will
operate every 15 minutes from 2:30 p.m. until two hours after the game ends.
Cost to ride the shuttle is $2 roundtrip per person (children under six ride
free). In addition, bus routes in Tempe will operate according to holiday
schedules. Several bus routes serving the downtown Tempe area will be
detoured. There will be no Flash Forward and Back or Flash to University
Drive bus service.
