Community Emergency Response Team class sessions to begin Jan. 27

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program has been established to train residents to deal with crisis management within their communities and to assist other areas where help is needed. Working with the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) and the Citizens Corp Council, the CERT program is available in more than 600 communities nationwide and four countries. As part of the program, participants are trained in the areas of emergency preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, team organization, search and rescue, terrorism awareness and disaster psychology.

The next series of classes in Mesa will begin Jan. 27 and will meet one day a week for three hours through Mar. 10. For more information about this or other upcoming sessions, call (480) 644-4927. Sessions also are available in Spanish.
