The Holocaust: A Survivor's Story - Helen Handler
Helen Handler, a Valley resident, will discuss "The Holocaust: A
Survivor's Story," her experiences of endurance and determination to
rebuild her life, at the city of Phoenix Faces of Diversity Brown Bag
lunch series from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Phoenix City
Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson St.
Handler, now 76 and the only survivor in her family, spent part of
her young life in two Nazi concentration camps and endured two death
marches. In spite of the fact that she suffered a great deal, she
felt that no one could touch or destroy her strong values or
dignity. She is active with the Phoenix Holocaust Survivors Assoc.
The free series, an outreach of the city's "We're All On The Same
Team" (WAOTST) program, is sponsored by the Phoenix Human Relations
Commission and the city's Equal Opportunity Department. It features
dynamic people telling their stories about diversity.
Bring your lunch and enjoy a cultural experience. No reservation
required. For more information or to participate with the WAOTST
program, call 602-261-8242 or 602-534-1557/TTY or visit
