Phoenix Plein Air Artist Tom Haas Brings His Award-Winning Landscape and Southwestern Oil Paintings to the Arizona Fine Art EXPO
Monday January 24, 12:56 pm ET
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2005--Phoenix artist Tom Haas, described by the National Park Academy of the Arts as "being in the top echelon of representational artists working today," will be exhibiting his award-winning oil paintings at the Arizona Fine Art EXPO through March 27.
Haas often paints "en plein air," a French term meaning "in the open air." As a result, his paintings start on location, often at the numerous national parks within the Four Corners states of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.
Earlier this month, Haas' large-scale pastoral scene "Summer Pasture" was awarded Best in Show at the Anthem Festival of Fine Art. His work has been featured in magazines such as International Artists, Southwest Art, Phoenix, Art of the West and A Peek at the Peak. In addition, Haas' oil paintings have been exhibited in several museums, including Arizona's Pueblo Grande, Sharlot Hall, West Valley, Phippen and the Tucson Museum of Art.
The tented venue at the Arizona Fine Art EXPO has provided Haas with ideal conditions for painting. "The tent material allows a little more light in, so it's like painting under a skylight," he said. "It's really great lighting for artists."
Haas created his display at the EXPO to showcase paintings in a variety of sizes and prices to meet the demand of all art enthusiasts. "The inventory I have now is from miniature to large scale. I like to cover a broad range," he said. "Typically, it's pastoral scenes, desert vistas and artwork that really fits in well with the Southwest style of furniture."
Haas' studio/gallery is located in northeast Phoenix and open year-round by appointment. For additional information about Haas, including samples of his oil paintings, please visit http://www.tom-haas.com.
