Arizona Public Service Company, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department are launching the 2005 "Help Put the DiamondBack into your Neighborhood/Keep It Clean!" education partnership with an April 6 news conference in a central Phoenix neighborhood.

The annual effort comes amid ongoing concerns about the blighting condition and fire danger posed by overheight vegetation triggered by this winter's rains.

WHO: Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, representatives from the Arizona Diamondbacks and Arizona Public Service company
WHAT: Kick off the third annual "Help Put the DiamondBack into your Neighborhood/Keep It Clean!" resident education effort.
WHEN: 9 a.m.Wednesday, April 6
WHERE: 510 W. Granada Road (between McDowell and Thomas roads)
WHY: To remind residents of eight ways to keep properties looking great, and to raise blight awareness in the community.

The event will feature the unveiling of a new poster for the 2005 effort featuring Grant Trenbeath, head groundskeeper, Bank One Ballpark. A new brochure outlining eight ways to protect the look of your neighborhood will also be issued.

Wednesday evening, Mayor Gordon will throw out the first pitch as the Diamondbacks face the Cubs, and NSD staff will hand out posters and brochures to fans who drop by the Community Corner at BOB.
