Library Patrons Can Restock Food Banks During "Food For Fines"

Pay your library fines and help restock the pantries of Valley food banks during the Phoenix Public Library's annual "Food for Fines."
April 10 through 23, patrons who donate a non-perishable food item will have 50 cents deducted from their overdue fines. The city's 14 libraries are participating in the drive, which is during National Library Week, April 10 - 16.
The libraries can't accept homemade food or food in lieu of lost or damaged books. Last year, the program netted 24,000 pounds of food that was distributed to Arizona Food Bank members, Desert Mission Food Bank, St. Mary's Food Bank and Westside Food Bank.
