Goals and objectives; a place to start.

This web site was started on February 26, 2002. As it is developed it will show, or link to, the family trees of the various branches of Kienows in the United States. At this time many of the branches have been traced to a single Kienow who left "Prussia" and arrived in the United States. Very few of the groups of Kienows in the United States have been able to show a relationship to a common ancestor, or locate the town in "Prussia" which this ancestor left behind. The purpose of this web site is help those doing research to locate the towns of origin, make this connection, and to provide information for those who are seeking their Kienow roots.

I, and those making use of this resource, are deeply indebted to the many researchers who have provided the basis for this web site. At the risk of leaving someone unnamed, in the general order which we communicated during the last 23 years, they include; Bernie Kienow, Hazel Smith, Dorothy Kienow Christiansen, Judy Kienow Horner, Ronald Kienow, Marvin Jaeckel, Phyllis Lipscomb, Don Wood, Steven Kenow, Bill Craig, Mary Ellen Schroeder, and Sue Prifogle Otte. Don Wood wishes to acknowledge, Harold Kenow, father of Steven Kenow, whom he credits with the discovery of the Wolf/Kienow birth records in Meesow.

Important assistance with research has been provided by Roberta Fosdal, Elsie Saare, Dennis Wehrmann, and Petra Besgen. Please be sure to advise me of any omissions and/or corrections. At this time I am attempting to get everything started briefly and quickly, then, it is my hope that others will take over the pages of the various branches, or link to their pages.

At the left is a menu containing the names of the husband and wife of the known first and second generation families. If you know which family you are interested in, click on that name. Don't know to which Kienow you are related, or are you a descendent on the maternal side? Go to: Which Kienow is my Kienow?
