Descendants of Carl Ludwig Kienow/Marie Louise Durre

Carl Ludwig and Marie Louise emigrated to the United States from the area of Garz and Pldne, Pommern in 1856. I have not found them in the Germans to America, ship records. My information concerning them is limited to the information below, and the release from the Prussian government. These two documents were given to me about 20 years ago by Bernie Kienow.

The first document reads as follows:

The master blacksmith, Carl Ludwig Kienow, with his wife, Marie Louise, Nee Durre, daughter of Carl Wilhelm Durre and his wife, Marie, Nee Elrie, born September 8, 1818, and baptized September 26, as inscribed in the church records in Ploenzcz, have had the following named children born to them in Garz and Pldne, in Pomerenic.

1. Caroline Wilhelmine, born April 18, 1840: baptized May 10.

2. Ernestine Wilhelmine, born December 24, 1842; baptized January 18, 1843.

3. Augusted Friedrike Wilhelmine, born August 21, 1851; baptized August 31.

The above statement is being officially confirmed. Plocnzcz, March 25, 1856.

Auguste Friedrike Wilhelmine died April 11, 1856. The above statement is being officially confirmed.

Carl Kienow born March 3, 1809 died May 1880. Marie Kienow born Sept. 8, 1818 died April 21, 1910. Both are buried in Rice, Minnesota cemetery.

The release from the Prussian government is: Honorable Release

Don Wood postulates that Pldne/Plocnzcz may be "Plönesee" which is the small lake near Collin and next to Fürstensee. This is the area where the Kienow/Mittelstädt's came from. I think that he may be correct.

These two documents raise a few questions which include: why are the place names given in Polish if they were confirmed in 1856, when the area was Pommern? and; why does the release include Auguste Friedrike if she died the day before it is dated? None the less, the information is valuable. It appears that the first document came from someone in Poland who had access to the church records. But what church? I have been unable to identify Pldne. I do not know of a town named Plönesee. Perhaps I will find them in the Fürstensee church book, which I will review next. A word about the name Durre, which appears to be French. I read recently that the area was so depopulated by the 30 years war, that settlers were brought in from France. I did see at least one Durre in the Collin church book.
