At this time this appears to be the Kienow which has been traced back the furthest. The basis for the information is from the church records from Collin, now Kolin, a small town located a few miles south of Stargard, Pommern, now Szczecinski, Poland (Latitude 53.7667, Longitude 13.3500.) The church duplicate records have been microfilmed and are available through the LDS Church. The film is number 1273125 and I have purchased a copy for the Mesa, Arizona Family History Center. Several researchers have placed information about Kienows from the church records on the web. We are all indebted to these early researchers for providing us with a starting place. The church has been erroneously referred to as the "Church of Saint George", or "Saint George's Church" on the web because of Pastor Johann Friedrich August Georg's latinized and stylistic signature of "Georgi". The records contain much family information since the marriages, births, confirmations, and deaths include additional family information. From the records we know that Johann Gottfried was the school teacher and sacristan, (Schüllehrer and Küster) in Collin. His oldest son, Johann Friedrich, held the same position in the town of Suckow, nearby. Johann Gottfried was the son of Johann Gottfried Kienow (senior) and Maria Neumann. He died in Collin on November 14, 1841. The record indicates in addition to his wife, living children as Johanne Mitlzaff, Johann Friedrich, Wilhelm August Ferdinand, Carl Wilhelm, Carl Eduard, and Louise Emilie. His age at death is given as 61 years, 6 months, and 22 days. Louise married Carl Oesterreich and her heirs have been identified. I hope to establish a relationship to Carl Eduard. This identifies Carl Wilhelm as a potential immigrant to America. He was born on November 26, 1820, and researchers should be alert to any Kienows born on, or around, that date. At this time I have ordered several films from the area and hope to list the children of Johann Friedrich. The only other descendent family in the United States which I am aware of at this time are the descendents of Emilie Kienow and Carl Oesterreich.
