If you don't know from which branch of the Kienow family you belong, or if you are just curious, this page identifies the general locations of the Kienow migration. The early Kienows arrived in the Watertown, Wisconsin area during the 1850's. As land opened up in the west they settled in Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and on to Oregon. A small and yet unidentified group remained in New York. I have not documented a stop in Buffalo, New York, but this may have been the case. Much research remains to be done and this page will be changed accordingly. Generally, this web site will study Kienows up to approximately 1900. Research after that will be up to the individual families.
