This blog will stay up for a while, until everyone can redo their links, but all new posts will be at my new site. Thanks for being patient as I move my blog over. If you are at my new blog address, welcome and hopefully this will be as efficient as my old webhoster. (If not I may move back... but there are no plans to for right now.)

-Phill

Phillip Toys

So, I know its been a while since I've posted. I could tell you that I was too busy, too lazy, or too unmotivated to post before now, but the main reason is that I simply forgot.

When things more important than my 'e-life' happen, I try to enjoy them. That being said, I have been working to try to fix my computer for sometime now (it was broken, another reason I haven't blogged). Since then I have (obviously) fixed my computer and grown more mature and confident in myself. (Well, maybe not the mature part, but definitely the the confident part).

The Refuge Twisted Christmas party was a blast. The noise made it kinda difficult to carry a conversation, but still fun nonetheless.

Actual Christmas was fun also. Some Texan cousins of ours came in to Houma (where we were having the party) and their children's gifts were all LSU related which was rather amusing.

Then our family decided to host a New Year's Eve party. (Instead of a Rose Bowl party which is what we were intending had LSU gone there) That was a lot of fun. A lot of people came over and it made the night a lot of fun. I was showing my working computer off to some people when Michael and Charis Scichowski walked in, and my family yelled something about company for me... o.0 Anyway, Jason had to leave early because his family didn't want to stay till midnight. Before he left though, we played some Xbox 360 (Halo 2 and Battlefront 2). Shortly after, Michael pulled out some fireworks that he bought for like 5 dollars and we watched him light them for a while. After that we went on my computer and started looking at some pictures of various things (by this time it was just the two Scichowski siblings, Jake left at pictures). I found out that Michael is really into photography and stuff. So I showed them some pictures from California and my Universal trip. They ended up staying till like 1:30 AM, after everyone else had left. I went to sleep and didn't wake up will about noon. Oh and the missionaries Issac and Carol came to our house for the party and we ended up praying for them at around 2 minutes after the new year.

So I went over to Jason's later in the day for a little bit and we played Halo on computer (modding ftw!). Then it was eat, work, sleep for the next day.

-Phill

LSU is playing in the Sugar Bowl!!!!!

They just announced the news, LSU is playing Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl!!!!

That contrasts with my predictions of playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl.... (actually they were my dad's predictions).

So all those plans about the Rose Bowl Party, are canceled :p If there is some chance I can go to the Sugar bowl, I will be there. However, my family is considering a chance for a Sugar bowl party (the only downside is that the sugar bowl starts late in the evening).

Go LSU!!!!

-Phill

Halo 3 Fans

For those that like the Halo series, be sure to watch Monday Night Football on Dec. 4th for an exclusive view of the new Halo 3 game.

Here is the link to the article where I found it.
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/1130-exclusivehalo3trailer.htm

-Phill

Happy Birthday to Me!

The end of the year is always a fun time. Finals, projects being due, my birthday and Christmas!!! Just today we put up our tree, and I think that its looking good. I'll post a picture when we have it fully decorated.

Oh and this Wednesday it was my birthday. I turned 17 at around 6 pm. Since I went to Refuge that night, we celebrated my birthday today. After school my family headed out to Best Buy to see if they had anything I wanted. They didn't. So we went over to Comp USA to see if the condition would be reversed. It wasn't. (However my mom did get a Bluetooth ear piece for her phone) What we ended up doing was ordering what I wanted off of the Internet (and I have to say that I'm glad I did). Check out what I'm getting, http://xoxide.com/aspire-x-cruiser-case-blue.html
That is one boss looking case, I can't wait to get it and set it up. Prayfully with that, and the other part I'm getting, my computer will finally work with my new processor and motherboard. Some of the presents I've already gotten include earbuds from Jake, a lighted keyboard from Jason... and that's about it so far. Oh and a check from my grandmother.

Lan parties, here I come!

-Phill

Universal Studios '06

It was awesome.

The drive up was rather uneventful, unless you count all the dangerous moves Seth was pulling to stay behind me (not that I was driving fast, just he wouldn't get over till the last minute). Well I drove 4 states that day, and it was rather interesting. After I drove my leg of the trip, I got into the Rougon car and watched movies with Seth. We watched Ice Age 2, Cars, and Around the World In 80 Days. It was perfect, as soon as Around The World In 80 Days finished I looked up and we were pulling into the driveway of our rented house.

The first couple days in the parks were extremely cold. If you ever get to look at the photo album, you will see as the days progress I will lose more of the warm clothes (The final day I just wore my Dr.Pepper shirt and some jeans).

It was a fun time. I was informed that we won't ever get to go back as a family (or as they said until my kids were like 12) so I said my good-bye to Universal Studios. However, my senior year I will be able to go to Disney World on a physics field trip.

-Phill

Piñata

Yeah, that is my Piñata for the project I have in Spanish... so far. I have until December 8th to finish it. If anyone that reads this blog has any ideas about decorating, I'm all ears. Right now I'm just focusing on trying to get this shell made. I had to go out in the cold weather to make this thing. The first time I tried to do it, it popped on me. I then became very careful to make sure that I didn't stress any part of the balloon too much. However, you wouldn't believe how heavy it can get with all that newspaper on it. I figure I'll let it hang and dry while I'm having fun in Orlando, so when I come back it will be ready for its second "coat" of newspaper.

On a slightly different note, I leave tomorrow to go on vacation. That's right, the Rougon's are coming with us on vacation to Universal Studios in Florida.

It promises to be a blast, and I'll prove it too. I'm definitely going to take lots of pictures; lots and lots of pictures.

Well today I worked at my mom's office and scanned. I won't be working tomorrow because I'll be busy packing for the trip. On the ride to Orlando, our family is planning to bring the the xbox 360. So for the whole trip ('cept the parts where I have to drive :/) we can play Halo 2!!!!!! I'm not exactly sure if Seth will be riding in our car or not, but I'm guessing since the xbox will be in our car that he will be with us for at least part of the journey.

Don't expect a blog post for a while, probably not till I come back on Sunday (not even then because we'll be getting in late).

-Phill

Spanish Campus recap

Yesterday my mom went out on the Medical Outreach to the Spanish Campus. It was a lot of fun. I'm trying to learn Spanish (might as well since it is a required class in school) for when I go on the missions trip to Peru, so on these trips I get to practice a little bit. I'm still way a newbie, but I'm learning.

When on the outreach I was informed that I would be writing the entry on the Healing Hands blog for this outreach. o.0 I dunno how long it will be, but I'll try. Oh and check out the best picture from the trip. I'm not very good with a camera yet, but this picture turned out nicely.

After the Spanish campus we went to go eat at Chile's. I ordered a really good burger. Some kind of Peppercorn or something...

-Phill

Mighty To Save - Dios puede Salvar

-Phill

Thanksgiving Holiday!!!

I got out today and was officially on vacation!!! You forget how blessed you are until you actually see someone who has it worse than you. It makes you reevaluate things.

Anyway, its Thursday and there is only one more day until we get out for thanksgiving!!! Exciting stuff because the Rougons are teaming up with my family and we're going to Universal Studios in Orlando!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm praying that there would be no complications for the trip (i.e. no sickness) and stuff.

Oh and I plan on revamping the blog layout sometime soon, but I wouldn't count on it happening soon. One of those updates will include a flash music player that all people can view (sorry mac guys, its a windows media embed code).

-Phill

Post 100

I think its been about 100 days since I posted too... well it feels like it anyway. I had hopes for my 100th post to be grand and cool, so I kept putting it off until I had time to compose something cool. I have realized though that I'll never get it done with that mindset, so I'll just type.

So to update everyone on what has been happening I have been very busy. First off was the scandal with my computer and the new processor/motherboard. I put it in and booted it up and everything was fine. I put in the XP cd and it worked, to about 81%. After it got to about 81% of the text installation, it would just stop and hang, every time. I've tried so many things to get it to work that I just gave up and put my old configuration back in. So until I get some more parts in for my computer which will prayfully fix it, I'm stuck with my old computer. So that was one reason why I haven't posted anything lately.

Another is that I've just been plain busy. I had to turn in a bunch of projects recently which zapped a lot of my time. I was able to post today because of early dismissal. One of the things I've been meaning to talk about was my foreign relations. For those who have not heard, haven't cared to hear, or have heard but forgot; the French girl Laura moved to a different school. I was sad when she left, she was good at Spanish and she helped my out with my homework sometimes. Ah well, I guess I can keep Spanish up on my own. Another foreign exchange student I've become friends with is Julia. She's from Germany and even better, she goes to Refuge on Wednesday.

So to move on to more current events because I've blanked on what I've missed, let me start off with saying that I have not been feeling well the last few days. I developed an eye infections two days ago and it got so bad I wasn't able to make it to school yesterday. Since then I've developed a cold, so now I'm a red eyed sniffling person. I'll be able to go to refuge tonight, but I won't be able to touch anyone. Ah well, I thank God for His healing in my life.

Oh and I need to update my links list, and just because you aren't there doesn't mean I don't like you, it just means I haven't taken the time to update it yet...

-Phill

A Day Late

< spanish>
Hola mi amigos. I have an important message for the locals ones.

Listen up...

Jones Creek is now open!!! Whoo!

This is a TREMENDOUS blessing because even this morning I was almost late to school because of the unreal amount of traffic on O'Neal. So with the return of Jones Creek, hopefully people will deviate from O'Neal and it will return to its relatively traffic-free environment.

Woot!

For some reason, everyone was... depressed at school today. It was weird, but I think tonight will make up for it. Tara plays St. Michael tomorrow @ Memorial stadium, and then Unplugged is right after that, so I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Oh and I'm getting a new AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor (w/matching mobo). First off for me, I couldn't put music on my blog which made me start the changes. I changed the layout to hopefully fix some IE position bug, and I added the windows media player to play my music files. I did that because I found out I could set it to play a playlist, which I thought was cool.

-Phill

Blogging at school

The following is something I wrote in the middle of class during a discussion we were having. The content of the conversation was geared toward non-christians, but it had some stupidiously obvious christian parallels that I almost blurted it out in class.

"
Sitting here in class, I felt the need to jot down what my teacher is saying.
Basically, she is saying that we have the power to change our school. While she is referring to the recent fighting and how we can change it, all I keep hearing is that I can make this school the way I want it to be. If I want to change this school for Christ, I can do it. I feel this is confirmation that I should start a prayer group at school in the morning.
"

-Phill

Thoughtful entry

In a world where things can shift so quickly, I find myself looking to temporary things to try to help secure myself. I forget the One who made all things and ordained my life. My identity is in Christ and I seem to keep forgetting that.

I had thought about not posting tonight, because I really didn't feel like expressing my thoughtful mood in words (which isn't really my strong point) so I decided to create a picture to help share my thoughts.

-Phill

Weird entry links

I use a service called sitemeter (see bottom of page) to track how many visitors I get. I looked at it today and one of the things it does it tracks from what website people use to get here. It's not perfect, but I have had some weird google/yahoo searches that have led people to my blog.

First off we have the KLove Top 20 that someone searched on yahoo and found my page.
Link

Next we have a FEMA Trailor search in yahoo.
Link

Another trailor mention, searched in Google: led trailor
Link

And last but not least we have someone in California who searched in Ask.com: where can we get split doors for a nursery?
Link

I think that one takes the cake for being the most random.

-Phill

More fights break out at Tara High School

News Report

It's one thing to read about stuff like that, its a whole different world when you are caught in the middle of it. One thing the article doesn't say is that there was a rumor that one of the students had a gun in the commons before the fights broke out. At least 5 minutes before the fights, rumors were going around that someone brought a gun to school. While I never saw it, others claimed to have seen it. I think people were overreacting from yesterday, because no one ever found it after the fight. A bunch of people left though because of that. The fights started to break out right when the bell was ringing, so I hurried to class. My first period class has a very expasive view of the commons so I was staring out the door as there was this mass of people clustered together. The police officers were already in the school, so they went in. As I was watching, the crowd all of a sudden started to scatter, quickly. My first thought was that the gun had been brought out, but it really the police officer taking out his mace and knocking a girl to the ground. At that point my teacher made me come in and shut the door (before the whole class had even arrived). A few seconds later, there was a thud on the wall, like someone had been thrown against it. After that, order had started to retore, then another fight broke out in the commons area. After all of that, we went into lockdown and stayed in first hour for forever. The rest of the day was uneventful (not surprising because there were about 15 police officers around the school).

However, even after all of that, the football game went on. We were beaten by Catholic 55-0, which is pretty good compared to how I thought we would lose. Then on the way to the school (we had a police escort) two members of the band (who I never suspected of having conflict) started to get serious, to the point of fighting. As if it wasn't enought about the fighting for two days at school, but our own band members.

On a lighter note lets examine the line in this article...
"'How do you charge a victim with battery?' she said."

I'm sorry... but I had to laugh when I read that.

-Phill

The Fight

Over the weekend I stayed at Jake's house with Jason, Seth and of course Jake. We stayed up all night playing xbox, playing with the mac, eating, checking out Seth's cool car, and playing Halo 2. Technically we didn't stay up all night because at 4:30 my esteemed companions decided to quit and go to bed. I was all for staying up longer, but I went to bed anyway. Well the next day I was pretty tired, but I made it through.

Ok, since its pretty late right now I'm going to head over to my bed... and sleep. There were many people that I knew that after that year left to go to another school. I had awesome classes and the band was pretty good (and slightly big). It makes me wonder where my school is focusing its energies. We don't have an awesome football team, band or any other type of sport so maybe its trying to focus on education. While the school has made an honest effort to try to focus on education, it just isn't working. The majority of attention is trying to maintain order within the school. It shows a lack of pride and caring for their high school. 20 years ago highschool was a cool(er) place to be. People back then had more respect for their school. The reason I'm saying all of this is to point out the downward trend of American morals. It makes me want to go slap a bible in their faces and say "Don't you get it!!!! This is not the way to live!" Maybe this is God's way of trying to open up my eyes and show me how negligent I've been over the past two years. I have a desire to see my school changed, I'm sick of the way it is and what is now considered "normal".

Anyway, I just came back from the Tara vs. Plaquemine game. We lost 46-12, which is an improvement than last game (Tara vs. Covington 51-0 Tara lost) in that we actually scored two times. The gnats were bad tonight though and right now I smell like bug spray.

Tomorrow I'm going to help a man move, then go to a LAN party with my friends. I also have to finish a book for english class before Monday.

Adios
Au revoir

-Phill

Sweden, France, Germany, Madagascar

School has been going pretty good over the last few days. It has been hard, and I know it will get harder. That's what happens when you are a junior.

1st: English III AP
2nd: Computer Science II AP
3rd: American History AP
4th: Advanced Math Honors
5th: Chemistry Honors
6th: Advanced Band
7th: Spanish

3 AP classes, 2 honors and then Spanish. I'm not complaining though, it will be fun.

Speaking of foreign languages, it seems that I'm coming in contact with more foreign exchange students than I had before. There's the girl from Germany who is staying with Paula and O'G and then theres a girl from France that goes to Tara that I talk to everyday at lunch. There is also a guy from France at our school, but I haven't really talked to him. I have learned/am learning stuff from 3 different languages this year. My advanced math teacher went to Madagascar for a couple of years as a missionary, and so he is telling us stuff from that native language, Malagasy. So far I know that omby masina (pronounced oomby masna) means holy cow and a couple of other unnatural phrases I cannot pronounce yet. Since I am taking Spanish I am obviously learning that language. At the end of class we are watching parts of Cuatro Fantastica (Fantastic Four). And that leaves French. The only word I've really learned is "magasin" which means store. So now everytime I see Laura (French foreign exchange student) I say that word, and she laughs. The soccer players are selling candy around the school as a fundraiser, and she didn't know what some of the candies were (AirHeads). It makes me wonder what it would be like to go to a European country (Sweden). I'll make it a point to visit there one day before I die... maybe even convince the church to have a missions trip to Sweden. I would so go.

Now that this post is coming to an end, I get to move on to my next activity... which will be eating lunch, never mind that it is already 3:13 PM or that it took me 40 minutes to write this post.

-Phill

Why do you look at this?

I would tell you the many excuses that I have for not blogging lately, but I decided you didn't really come to this blog to read about why I haven't written anything. In fact, why do you read this blog? Is it for entertainment? I try to add a bit of humor in my blogging everynow and again. Is it 'cause you want to know what's going on in my life? That would be my guess, but how far does it go? Do you want to hear every little detail, or just the big things? Why does Dr. Pepper taste so good?

I've been doing a lot of cool stuff over the course of the past week. I had band camp all last week from 8 to 3. I was also designing a website for someone, and I think it turned out pretty neat. Promise Keepers was also over the weekend. That was really cool. It was a little baptist-y for my tastes. I couldn't really get into the worship, and I wish they would have played some Hillsong songs, I mean I looked at their worship songs last year and they played a Hillsong song, so why not this year? At the end of the trip I hooked up my iPod and listened to Hillsong for at least 10 minutes so I wouldn't go crazy. Paul made a comment that we're spoiled at HPC with our music, and I'd have to agree :p As far as the preaching went, it was awesome. All in all, other than the worship, the weekend was pretty awesome. I can't be too critical though, the worship was still pretty good, just not my style.

At band camp, the balloon festival was going on, and on thursday when we arrived there was this big X on our football field. The field was one of the targets for the national competition. The balloons had to get close enough and then throw this bean bag thing and try to get it as close to the X as possible. Only two balloons actually got close enough to make their run. The second balloon actually got really close to the center. So that was fun, but not compared to the second day. On friday, the X was out there same as the day before. The target closed at 9, but no balloons were really close, so we just marched. All of a sudden, after stopping a drill we hear this *whoosh* of a balloon firing its thingy. We look up and the balloon is like really close. The officials at the target start motioning us to get off the field and we do. The guy makes his throw and gets it pretty close. For some reason though, he didnt lift back up and came down on the field. His truck came right after that and we got to help him pick up his balloon. So that was a nice break.

The next video Froob Entertainment is planning is the movie version of The Adventures of Justin teh Noob and Doodlikesweet. The book was written a while back, and we had thought about filming it, but then we didn't have the resources to do it. Now that has changed. So we have begun pre-production on it, getting a script together and planning out how we want to do it. And we plan on starting filming as soon as we get the first part of the script finalized.

So that's what has been happened lately.

-Phill
