AZVegan Voices

AZVegan Voices meetings will be temporarily cancelled until further notice.  The meetings have been very productive and I will definitely continue them in the future.   But for now, I will be concentrating on the Arizonans for Humane Farms campaign.  I urge each of you to get involved in this important campaign! We need every one of you out there collecting signatures to get this on the ballot!  Visit www.yesforhumanefarms.org  for more info.   Thanks to all of you who attend the Voices meetings and, don't worry, I WILL start them up again them in the future!

AZVegan Voices will take action for animals by focusing on letter writing. Letters to the editor on timely topics, letters to elected officials on current legislation, letters to businesses asking for veg options or animal-friendly products...every letter written is a voice for the animals. Many legislators believe that your one letter represents the views of at least 100 other voters who did not take the time to express their opinion. (Though the focus will be on letter writing, AZVegan Voices may occasionally take on other projects.)

We will meet once a month and spend about an hour and a half writing letters and should be able to generate about 5 - 10 letters per person each meeting. I will provide topics, contact info, and stationary. Please bring stamps for your letters and return address labels.

Please RSVP so I can plan accordingly. Location may change for future meetings to accommodate those living in different parts of the valley.

I will post the topics written about and all contact info after the meeting for those who can't make it to the meeting but would still like to participate.

May Meeting - Circuses

June Meeting - Veal

July Meeting - Wolf Reintroduction & Trader Joe's Eggs

August Meeting - Animal Experimentation

September Meeting - Dairy, focusing on Baskin-Robbins

Quick letter-writing tips

bullet

Always be polite - people are much more likely to listen to you if you aren't yelling at them.  :)

bullet

Know your material - add in facts to support your views.

bullet

Use your own words - try to speak from the heart.

bullet

You don't have to write a lot - just make your point quickly and politely.  You can write a "standard" letter of your own and send versions of that same letter to as many contacts on the list as you want.

Important local contact information
Click here for a list of important addresses.  You certainly don't have to write to everyone on the list.  (But kudos to you if you do!)  Just pick a handful of contacts that you feel are most important.
