Viva USA has recently launched a new Vegan Buddies Project!!
This will partner up wannabe-vegans who need advice, support, and encouragement in order to dive into the deep end of veganism, with seasoned vegans who can show them what to eat, where to buy it and how to cook it. If you are vegan, sign up to become a "mentor". If you are a meat-eater with a heart, or a lacto-ovo-veggie who hasn't quite managed to kick your egg-and-dairy habit, get in touch and we'll put you in touch with someone in your area to show you the ropes. This project is all about fun, food, and friendship. Click here for more info.

Stamp Out Animal Cruelty
Infamous fast-food giant, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), has petitioned the United States Postal Service (USPS) to create a postage stamp in honor of their supposed "American entrepreneurial icon," Harland "Colonel" Sanders. Ironically, KFC is requesting that "chicken lovers nationwide" visit its website to sign an online petition as part of its self-serving marketing ploy. You Can Help stop this shameless advertising scheme to commemorate a major symbol of both animal cruelty and the degeneration of American eating habits.  Click here to take action.

Farmwatch -WSPA is starting a major anti-factory-farming campaign
In terms of sheer numbers, farm animal welfare is the biggest animal welfare problem in the world today. Literally billions of farm animals are reared behind the closed doors of factory farms.  They are caged or crammed and forced to grow super-fast, and pushed to their physical limits in the quest for more meat, milk or eggs.  At the end of their short lives, millions of farm animals are transported over great distances in poor conditions, simply to be slaughtered at the journey’s end.

"Bird Flu,  A virus of our own hatching",  a new book by Michael Greger, MD
"The threat of pandemic influenza is real, and we may need look no further than our own actions to explain why we're facing this grave situation. Bird Flu attempts to unravel the knotted threads that weave the harrowing explanation of how and why a harmless intestinal virus of waterfowl has mutated into a human killer. It's incumbent on each of us to understand the impact and influence our choices have had on both the natural world and public health, and to prepare within our families and communities to mediate the impact of the next pandemic.
As such, this endeavor is not for profit. All of the proceeds I receive from all my books and speaking engagements are donated to charity and the entire manuscript is available here for free online. On this site you can navigate through each of the 21 chapters from the table of contents on the left, access the more than 3,000 references, and search the content by topic index."
—Michael Greger, M.D.

"Beyond Closed Doors"- New documentary released which takes a comprehensive look at agricultural practices around the world.
Unlike many documentaries on animal treatment, "Beyond Closed Doors" (BCD) is not horrifying to watch. Instead, Sandgrain Films has taken a comprehensive look at the correlation between science, ethics, and the politics of farm animal treatment. Two years in the making, BCD is a powerful, informative, and thought-provoking film that relies on contrast and comparison of agricultural practices around the world, to make a case for the ethical and humane treatment of farm animals. "Chew on This" - an amazing video from PETA.
Every year, more than 27 billion animals (including fish) are killed for food in the United States alone. PETA’s video Chew on This sheds light on animal suffering and highlights many of the other reasons to choose a compassionate, plant-based diet.  Watch the video, order a free copy of the DVD, and pass it on!  (just three and a half minutes long)
